Day 5
Thursday 10th June ~ High - Mid 90'sF
Today was a day at sea, so we had a bit of a lie in and chilled in our room for a while (and I sorted through some of our Fish Extender gifts ~ thank you for the fun gifts everyone), we then had a quick lie out on Deck 10 before our 11am ressie for Palo Brunch
We were really pleased that Kim from Belguim was our server again (though I had emailed DCL beforehand to request her if she was onboard). She is so nice and friendly, and after serving us our first Champagne cocktail she showed us around the various tables of food
There are tables with fruit, seafood, cheeses, meats, breads and of course the wonderful desserts
As we had a reservation for High Tea at Palo at 3pm, we sensibly didn't go too mad and eat too much. We started with a plate of food from the buffet, then we had our egg dish (Eggs Florentine for me and Eggs Julia for Paul). We had another yummy cocktail and then helped ourselves to a few desserts. Once again we had a lovely relaxing meal
After Brunch we headed back to our stateroom and got changed back into our swimwear and went back up to Deck 10 for a sunbathe
I think I lasted about an hour, it was just too hot for me, so I went down to the Cove Cafe and sat outside reading my book (The Lovely Bones)
It wasn't long before we had to head back to our room to get changed for our 3pm High Tea ressie back at Palo (Oh my gosh, more food
). This was our first time at High Tea, and we were really looking forward to it, as it is usually only offered on longer cruises
There was only about another 5 or 6 tables available for High Tea, and 3pm was the only time available too, so we were thrilled that this reservation had become available
Well the High Tea was wonderful. Our server was John from India, and he came over to take our tea order, just good old English Breakfast Tea for us
,
.. next came out the sandwiches
.. then the warm scones, jam and clotted cream
.. then the petit fours
.. and finally the trifle (sorry I had eaten mine before I remembered to take a photo
)
It was such a nice, relaxing experience, we loved it, and at $5 each, it was a bargain too
Cont'd ..
