January 2005
We had just got back from our first Christmas at WDW, we had spent Christmas week there, and although it had been packed we loved the atmosphere, and as eldest DD would be starting her GCSE years in September we thought wed finally be good parents and not take her out of school in term-time, so after checking out the internet for some good deals we finally booked for two weeks at the Pop Century with Going Places (MyTravel) where we got a good deal with the childrens prices. Although we paid the deposit, we werent 100% sure if we would go, so DH and I agreed that we wouldnt think about this holiday (as we had our big holiday booked for May for 17 nights and a Disney Cruise) and we would think about this holiday in the Summer holidays.
August 2005
While on holiday in our caravan in the New Forest we brought up the subject of the Christmas holiday, and once all monies were worked out, the holiday was given the thumbs up and I went into hyper-planning mode.
As a car wasnt included in the price, I began to shop around and found a good deal with US rentacar, using Alamo, and for £319 we chose a 4x4 with all the insurances included.
September 2005
It was time to make ADRs, unfortunately I cannot reveal all of these as I have some surprises in store for my family and as theyre all blooming nosey and read what I put on here so I will have to let you know when we get back. The only one that they are aware of is Chef Mickeys on Christmas Eve at 10am for the character breakfast and I cant wait cos its my fave meal in WDW
October 2005
Next we decided to treat ourselves to the Meet & Greet parking at Manchester airport, as we have to arrive around 5am, we thought it would be great to try this (weve never used this service before) and we got a discount with our AA membership too (£82).
We also pre-booked our night before at a Travel Inn about a mile from the airport (£53.95 payable when we arrive)
November 2005
We ordered our Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure tickets through Attraction Tickets Direct. We had 4 x adult @ £55 ea. for 7 days for the price of 2, I ordered them on the Monday and they arrived the following Saturday, so I was pleased with the service.
We cancelled our Travel Inn reservation when Princess Jackson announced on the Trip Planning Boards that she had booked a Travelodge room for £26 before her flight in a brand new hotel ½ a mile from the airport, so we booked that and a big Thank You to her.
The tickets arrived at the end of November (much to my surprise), then it all became real, the wierd dreams started and I started waking up at 4am worrying if we had enough mosquito spray
Bits and Bobs
Back in September, I noticed that Mushumadness (Anna) had posted on the Resorts Board about getting a Christmas Tree for her room, so I quickly sent her a PM to ask if she wanted to share a tree (as she was leaving the Pop Century the day we arrived). We found one on the Wal-Mart website that we both liked and she arranged for a personal shopper to buy it, I sent her some dollars and by the sounds of it she has had loads of fun buying decorations for it. I cant wait to see it and to decorate my room and window.
This year we will be using the new Amex Travellers Cheque Cards, we were lucky that we ordered these when they were free/had free dollars put on/and got a rate of 1.84 before the dollar started going down I will let you know how we get on with them.
My address labels are written, my notepad is ready and Ive made my Mousekeeping envelopes so I am
READY TO GO !!!
Have a great Christmas everyone, thanks for all your input and Ill see you in the New Year
