Saturday 3rd January ‘09 Kerry’s ‘18th Birthday’ (High 76F)
It was EMH at Animal Kingdom this morning, and as the kids had been there the night before, Paul & I went on our own. First stop was fastpasses for Expedition Everest, and we lined up twice for EE too. We then went over to Dinoland and rode Dinosaur (which I really enjoyed as we hadn’t been on it for years), and then we went back to EE to use our fastpasses, where we rode the back row and wow ! it felt really fast
We then got breakfast at Pizzafari, where we had a breakfast platter of sausages, scrambled eggs, wedges and biscuity/sconey thing. After breakfast we went back to the Pop, where I bought a birthday cake in the food court for Kerry. Once the girls left the room to have some breakfast, I went into the girls room and decorated it for Kerry
When the girls came back to the room, we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and she opened her pressies (though her main present was bringing Bex to WDW, and although her real birthday isn’t till the 31st Jan, we treated today like it was her proper birthday). So, other than Bex coming to WDW, we bought her a RnRC photo frame, a cardigan and a Jasmine ‘Precious Moments’ statue (we bought her a Snow White one for Christmas), Becky got her a Tinker Bell shot glass and a Tink statue and she got a charm bracelet from Chad & Carolin (Bex was waiting till her real birthday to give Kerry her presents)
The girls, Chad and Carolin went off to the Disney Hollywood Studios as they wanted to see the Beauty & the Beast show, so Paul & I chilled out by the pool for a couple of hours. When the kids came back, they all sat by the pool, and after a while me, Paul & Becky went to Wal-Mart and Target to get more supplies in
Around 5.30ish, we all started to get changed as we are going to the Hard Rock Café for dinner tonight (chosen by Kerry). We told the girls that we needed to be ready for 6.15pm, as the taxi was meeting us by the Pop Century lobby at 6.30pm. As we waited, I smiled to myself as Bex wondered whether we’d all fit in one taxi. And when a stretch limo turned up, Kerry said ‘Ooh, maybe we should take the limo then’, after a moment, I stood up and said ‘OK, let’s get the limo !.’ The look on their faces was priceless and they were really shocked to be going out in style.
The driver dropped us off at CityWalk and we arranged to be picked up at 10.30pm. It was so funny to see everyone looking to see who was in the limo
We wandered around CityWalk, popping into some of the shops and then we arrived at the HRC around 7.30pm for our reservation. We had a lovely meal. We had a combo for starters, then Kerry had ribs, me & Becky had the Club Sandwich, Paul had New York Strip and Bex had steak too. As we walked in, we had our photo taken, so we bought the photo package too. Paul had 3 Bahama Mamas and I had 3 Hurricanes (I tend to only drink Bahama Mamas on Disney Cruises - they're proper Bahama Mamas
). The meal cost just under $200 (without tip), and it was really worth it. We had lots of fun, and it was great when the servers got on the counter and started doing the YMCA and other dances
After dinner, the girls wandered around the shops, so Paul & I went to the outside bar at Margaritaville where we finished off another couple of Bahama Mamas and Hurricanes
The limo came to pick us up at 10.30pm and took us back to the Pop. We all had a lovely evening, and I think Kerry really enjoyed her ‘18th Birthday’
