Last night was the long awaited concert and was it ever worth the wait! One of the coolest moments is when he had one of his fathers best friends go up to the stage. Mr. Skeirback (sp?) has made his home here in Tallahassee since 1972. It was one of those warm reunion moments that he allowed us to share. He said as long as his Dad's 3 best friends were still living, it was like having a bit of his father with him. It was very touching.

I can't find the words to describe just how wonderful it was. When he was singing, even though I was focused on him, the images that swirled through my mind took me so many places. And when he sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame and God Bless America in Yiddish it gave me goosebumps. When he did snippets of the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion I was IN the movie - not sitting in an auditorium. The last bit he did was his Inigo Montoya line. He raised the roof!

It was 2:30 this morning when I got home and I still couldn't stop replaying the evening. I do hope he makes a stop here again.

tater bug, that sounds incredible. I have always loved Mandy Patinkin, but many people have no idea who he is. I remember when he used to do cameos on David Letterman's show. I knew him from his music/performances before I knew he was also in films (like "Yentl" and "The Princess Bride"). He has a truly incredible voice. I wish I could have been there as I have never seen him in concert.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful experience and thanks for sharing!

Tater bug, I saw Mandy Patinkin in concert several years ago in Toronto, and my reaction was much like yours. I was absolutely spell-bound.

With only a pianist for accompaniment, his rendition of songs such as "Brother can you spare a dime?", "Sonny Boy", "Rock-A-Bye your baby with a dixie melody" and many others, was amazing. Sometimes raw, but filled with such passion. It totally drew me in, I could hardly take my eyes off of him.

It was an evening I'll never forget. :)

HuggaBaloo, I really hope you get to see him in concert - it is amazing. And yes, when I told people about going the reaction was always the same...."who?"

Snowwark - it was an evening I will never forget. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he comes back one day.

Cool. He has a great voice and it sounds like a great concert.

He is so talented...thanks for sharing your evening with us.. Wish I could have been there in person.. I am a fan.. :D

I also loved him in the Princess Bride (one of the great movies in my opinion). "I do not think this word means what you think it means".

I always thought he looked like Gene Kelly in that movie, but others think I'm nuts because of it.

MJames, I do understand what you mean about the Gene Kelly resemblance. When he was singing "Singing In The Rain" and doing a bit of dancing the resemblance was really strong.

Also a big Mandy fan! Wish I could have been there with you.
I was just listening to one of my CD's yesterday (the one with the songs Snowwark mentioned). He's even showed up in one of my dreams.......he and Scott Bakula sang 'Happy Birthday' to me!
Strange, I seem to have lots of celebrity dreams, too bad I can't tell you guys about the ones with Rutger Hauer!

Too Funny! You beat me to it!

How about:

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"

We quote from Princess Bride all of the time, and yes, he has a beautiful singing voice (even if he didn't sing in Princess Bride).

I would have loved to have been there. I love Mandy Patinkin, he is so talented.
