Last night was the long awaited concert and was it ever worth the wait! One of the coolest moments is when he had one of his fathers best friends go up to the stage. Mr. Skeirback (sp?) has made his home here in Tallahassee since 1972. It was one of those warm reunion moments that he allowed us to share. He said as long as his Dad's 3 best friends were still living, it was like having a bit of his father with him. It was very touching.
I can't find the words to describe just how wonderful it was. When he was singing, even though I was focused on him, the images that swirled through my mind took me so many places. And when he sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame and God Bless America in Yiddish it gave me goosebumps. When he did snippets of the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion I was IN the movie - not sitting in an auditorium. The last bit he did was his Inigo Montoya line. He raised the roof!
It was 2:30 this morning when I got home and I still couldn't stop replaying the evening. I do hope he makes a stop here again.
