Yes, you can separate it quite a bit so that it won't be tight at all when you put it over its head.

I was able to remove my jacket after a few minutes because it was up over my ears and causing my hearing aids to squeal. Next cruise hearing aids will be out during the drill. They also tried to place a tall person in front of me until the interpreter pointed out that if I couldn't see her I might not understand the instructions or hear my cabin number called. Couldn't hear a thing with squealing hearing aids.

Daughter told us to try the life jacket on BEFORE the drill, as many people having trouble with them. We did so, and therefore didnt have trouble during the drill. Also, CM's who are involved in the drills are trained to advise folk to stand in line with the smallest person at front, and the tallest at the back. Makes sense, but not everyone listens Im afraid. Dont forget to take photos of yourselves in the jackets: we look like Tweedledum and Tweedledee! Nat
