Manchester vs London Virgin flight prices

We usually fly from Manchester as it is closer to get to from Scotland for us. In the past Virgin Atlantic prices flying from Manchester haven't been too different to London. But I've just priced up our flights for our July 22 trip, and Manchester is coming out £600 more for Economy Delight than London. Unless things change over the next few weeks, guess we will be flying from London next year. Maybe the lack of competition on the Manchester route makes Virgin think they can raise their prices on that route.

London is always cheaper than Manchester and sometimes by a lot. It can work out cheaper to go to London stop over the night before and the day you land then drive back day after. Just need 2 extra days holiday

Think BA do it from Gatwick too so worth checking them if you’re going to London anyway

VA seem to have lost the plot with their 2022 prices, as I mentioned on the Edinburgh route they are looking at £3000 for a premium seat. I think they have literally jacked up the Orlando prices for 2022 across the board. I'm sure over the following months they will drop to something remotely acceptable. I'm well prepared for an increase, inevitable really, but the current prices are plain daft. 🤷‍♂️

We booked a package with them in April I think it was for next August. At it’s peak it was £3k more than we paid but seems to be coming back down a bit now. No availability for premium economy on the dates we booked now though.

We are going July 2022 booked Jan 2021 and Manchester was a lot more expensive than Heathrow when we booked.

I was going to re-book my flights for next year on Sunday, but ran out of time. Then of course the White House announcement got made!

So just spent the last 2 hours trying to get through on the phone to Virgin but finally managed it.

But I managed to get what I think was a good deal flying out of Heathrow for July next year. My previous ticket flying Economy Delight out of Manchester was £2415 - but the price for July 22 had jumped to £2855.

However, I managed to get a flight from Heathrow, flying out Economy Delight, and flying back in Premium, for just £2582. Think I got a result there for the Premium flights back - it was just an extra £70 more than flying back Economy Delight (and will actually work out cheaper as we are likely to be taking extra luggage as we are going 3 weeks).

How many seats is that ?

3 adults.

The dates were flying out on 6/7 and back on 27/7 in case anybody else was interested.

Thanks. I'm looking at the end of June for 2-3 weeks. Edinburgh still out of the question, Manchester not as bad but London still by far the cheapest. With VA

What I would say is if you haven't booked flights yet, might be worth getting them ASAP. The flights I booked were £100 cheaper when I checked on Sunday, but went up on Monday after the White House announcement.
