Are there set times that the manatees at Epcot are fed? Or does it vary each day? I've read that they post the day's activities on a board near the Observation Deck...anybody have a photo of this board?
I can't confirm if there's an activity board that lists the day's activities at Epcot, but I do know that we watched the manatees being fed around 10:30-11:00am on a weekday last October. It was pretty cool!
Yep, they basically eat constantly. A CM will come out to throw lettuce into the tank and talk about them for a bit, and this happens often. I don't recall a sign with specific times, but if you're in the aquarium area, you'll hear them calling guests to the manatee tank if they'd like to listen and watch. We stopped by the aquarium a few times and the manatees were almost always chewing on leftovers, even when they weren't being fed at that moment.
We saw the "lettuce toss" and q&a last May and I think it was around 11-11:30 as we stopped in before heading to our lunch ADR in WS. My (grown 22 yo) daughter is a big manatee fan, she fell in love with Lou when she was younger and still likes to visit him.
I think they're fed pretty much all day long. If you spend 20-30 minutes watching them, you will probably see the CM toss several heads of lettuce into the tank. There is almost always a crate of lettuce on the deck and when one is emptied, another one is brought out.
That explains it. Every time we've ridden Mission: Space we walked directly into the ride simulators, i.e., there was no queue. I'll need to look around next time we go to find these space manatees.

Manatees are in The Living Seas pavilion. There are usually 2 rescue manatees being rehabbed in a 2 story tank. On the first floor you can see them underwater and the second floor has the deck where the CMs feed them and talk to visitors about them. Lou has been there for a number of years so I would guess the permanent damage from an encounter with a boat propeller has made it unlikely he will ever be released, but the second manatee has been a different one on many trips.
