Manager's Special? WWYD?

I just called to make a reservation for FD. I was planning to go in November, but decided to make a ressie for September 24-30 to take advantage of FD.

Here are the details: 2 adults, staying 6 nights, base tickets, FD
I priced it at AKL on CL - (Free) DDP $3.228.30 / DxDP $3624.00
I priced it at CBR - (Free) DDP $2006.40 / DxDP $2402.00

Then she said she received a pop-up "Manager's Special" that would only be available as a 1 time offer where she could give me the same package at a standard room at the BWI with Free Dining for $2,942. I asked about upgrading to the DxDP and although she couldn't do it, she got someone from CS who could for $3338.24.

(all of my totals include insurance)

Is this a deal? Somehow I don't feel like I'm getting that much better than I would at AKL because I'm losing the CL and the pricing is about the same as I would pay for a standard room at AKL. Where is the deal? And what would you do? I took the special because I can always change to something else later, but I've never really looked at the BWI. I'm off to do some research, but I was wondering what the experts think.

When I called to price out WL, they offered me a pop up special as well. Old Key West. I didn't book it, and on later thought, I don't think it was that good of a deal. Wonder if they're just pushing certain hotels?

BWI has a higher per night charge than AK overall I think thats where the deal is coming in. But you would only be paying $300 for CL at AKL so is $50 a day worth it for your part of 2. I would say yes but depending on my trip goals I might would change to BWI b/c its location is better to Epcot and DHS.

I ran the numbers and it looks like even a standard room at BWI during that time would have run you $2958 (including the $90 memory book requirement) so they were giving you no discount to change resorts at all. Stick with ALK CL in that case.

FWIW either way you need to look for room only discounts that may come out for your dates, staying deluxe with only 2 adults the % off discounts are probably going to be better than free dining and you can just purchase dining plan at regular price and still save more money.

I ran the numbers and then plugged it all in online multiple times and realized we are not really getting a discount - so beware the "manager's special"! But surprisingly enough, my DH really liked the BWI and wants to stay there anyway!!!

And I have fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for a % off the room discount! I would love to change my dates to October or November if I could get one of those. I've never gotten a PIN before, but a girl can dream, right? That would save me a boatload of money!

I would not upgrade to DxD on CL, you are already set for breakfast and snacks during the day
