Manager Discounts???

So, I called WDW just to "check" on some rates for New Year's weekend - not even sure we are actually going yet. I ask for value or moderate resorts. First thing they offer is POR, for ~$1000. Then, the cast member (who was awesome) says that they can offer me a "manager special" at either SSR or CBR. SSR was $600 for 4 nights (which is pretty good), or $631 for CBR. We are DVC members, so we don't book at the regular resorts very often, but the CBR rate seemed really good (especially for New Year's weekend). I ended up reserving it, because she said that was the only way to get the special.

Anyone else get a special like this? The CM told me that she can't even figure out how they give them out. She says there is no rhyme or reason to it. Just wondering what others have seen.

i am not familiar with them either... but that's great... i'm confused though how a mod is more expensive than a deluxe... was the $600/SSR for the same number of nights as $631/CBR? and why go mod when you can go deluxe for approx the same $?

Hi I am fam. with them I have seen them time to time they are random they just do pop up when you call. You must place or book at that time or you will lose it, they are often a great deal when you have no other discount congrates!

Oops, typo on my post. SSR and POR were $1100 and $1000. CBR was $600, so basically I choose CBR to save some money. SSR is great, we have stayed there a few times through DVC.

Glad I booked as it seems that these don't come up all the time.

I had a "manager's special" in 2008 and we winded up getting YC at a really great price.

Quite a few years ago, I was offered Beach Club pretty sure it was Beach Club at 150 / night when we were staying at POFQ, back in 1992 I remember it because I had never been offered anything like that but it was still much more than we were paying.
