Today marks the Fortieth Anniversary of the Start of the Apollo 11 Moon Misson. They blasted off on July 16 1969, landed and walked on the Moon July 20 1969, and safely returned to earth on July 24 1969.
I was eleven years old when this happened and it was a very exciting time. Just looking up at the moon and knowing there was two people walking on the surface. When Neil Armstrong made his first step on the moon my neighborhood was like the fourth of July all over again. Fireworks all over the place. I will never forget that day, Very good day for America.
