Universal Resort Maintenance Worker Found In Guest's Room

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A maintenance worker at a Universal resort was arrested then fired from his job for stealing from a guest who was asleep in her room.

John Lamneck is accused of rifling through a woman's purse at the Royal Pacific Resort. A woman said she was sleeping in her bed when she saw Lamneck in her room.

When she screamed he tried to get away, but guests held him down until police arrived.

That's not good! That's why they say to always use the security lock.

Just an FYI--the security lock isn't going to stop a maintenance worker who has the special tool that can flip it open through a crack from the outside. I've seen it done after a freak act of physics managed to make the bar swing closed as the guest was exiting the room.

I'm glad they caught the guy, and hope they can get him on more than robbery.

Man, that is scary. How would you like to wake up to find this guy in your room?! :scared1:

You can't totally stop anybody but it will certainly increase the noise level and be an added deterrant for someone trying to get in.

omg That is really scary! It could happen anywhere though... :sad2: at least he got caught. There are usually 5 of us in our room and I am a really light sleeper. I would have heard him trying to get in, and woke my husband but he probably would have thought it was a guest with mistaken room no. (this has happened to us before at WDW - luckily there key card didnt work in our door):grouphug: to the poor woman.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

My DH wouldn't have heard a thing. He sleeps with ear plugs.

I think I should really consider bringing my handy dandy COBRA with us when ever we stay at a hotel.

I wonder if he made off with my Krusty the Clown TV tray? No, that was PBH.

I'm going to pick myself up one of these things

It works on non metal doors - don't know what universal has, but soon I am staying in Rome, Cairo, Paris & Disneyland Paris at hotels with my DD - I just want to have one.
