They were my favorite...loved how easy and affordable they were from Chicago to MCO....and you could book your dates nice and far in advance! It is really slim pickin's from Chicago to MCO these days...sigh. I sure hope they can make a comeback.

We were just talking about the same thing. We use to be able to count on great prices and also great flight times out of Indy. Now its much harder to find a non-stop and the prices are much higher. We could always count on an 8 am non stop ATA flight and a 9pm return non stop. We have given up this year and decided to drive. Between the high prices, lousy flight times and lack of non-stops, its just easier.

We flew ATA so much (pretty much every other week from MDW to MCO) that we were Elite members. They had the BEST free flight program ever. But we have surrendered to the "Dark Side" and are now Southwest fans. Give SW a try...they really expanded their schedule to MCO, and the fares are obsecenely cheap if you use Ding.

I am hoping to use SW...just wish they would open up their fares sooner! I am glad they are out of Midway tho...I much prefer navigating thru there than O'Hare...but am happy to be at either.

It REALLY seems to stink that they abandoned the airport of their "home city" - where their HQ still is - the city where they started as a small charter company. They are supposedly "out of bankruptcy" now, so we keep hoping they'll return.

Finding a direct flight to MCO at GOOD TIMES (AM departure from Indy/PM departure from Orlando) is downright close to impossible now.

Northwest has some good flight times from INDY to MCO and also pretty reasonable. We booked a direct flight out of IND in am, and the return flight you had a choise between noon and 7:30pm direct back to INDY, for $177/each. We booked that price for Christmas time 2006.

I loved ATA, My kids would go around singing there song ( with ATA your on vacation) Now that we have booked with delta and they find out, they will be alittle disppointedand that ATA is gone.

Yeah. That's what I did too - for September - but I'm a long-range planner and the seating situation is really bugging me. (See my other Northwest Airlines post from this week.) :headache:

By the way - you got a great price. Mine were $209 apiece before taxes and fees.
