A man filed a lawsuit againest a local hospital claiming a misdiagnosis caused him to lose parts of his body to a flesh eating virus.
The suit claims the hospitaland doctors were neglegent, causing Nelson Mendoza to unnecessarily lose " significant parts of his groin, buttocks, and thighs to Fournier's gangrene/necrotizing fasciitis, commonly known as 'flesh-eating' bacteria"
The reason I am posting this news report is because the hospital where this happened is Dr. Philips Hospital, formerly known a Sand Lake Hospital in Orlando, where most people taken from Disney property to a hospital, will be taken. Our son was taken there many many years ago when he became very sick with some sort of vrus.
And I know I will be :furious: {flamed} for even posting this, because "it has nothing to do with Disney", but I'm posting it any way, because people hurt at WDW could conceivably be taken to this hospital. And there would be the Disney connection.:thumbsup2

but how many people went to this hospital and had excellent care and did not have any problems. . . . . .Would you post that as well. . . . .

If there was a news report about it, I certainly would.

1. Just because he filed a lawsuit does not mean anything except the person was unhappy.

2. Most people at WDW with a problem are taken to Florida Hospital Celebration as it is much closer. Normally the only exceptions are for unusual cases which may go to a specialty hospital such as a Children's Hosptial.

Definitely have to agree with that! There are thousands of lawsuits filed every day but only a small portion of them are legitimate! Most are thrown out very early in the legal process.

Then you are doing exactly what the media does, hype of negative publicity which generates panic and concern when in all honesty there most likely should be none.

I think his point was that since the papers only publish bad news that's all you're going to do so you are just expanding their bad habits! It's bad to say but unfortunately our culture has developed to the point that only sensational bad news is newsworthy.

We've been taken to Celebration Hospital 2 times while visiting WDW. They were wonderful. On a side note. My hubby and DD came down with MRSA. It was our local hospital and it is a great hospital. Things happen, they can happen anywhere.
