Man arrested at WDW

We were at Typhoon Lagoon on Monday. This was pretty disturbing to read considering we have an 11 y/o daughter .

We also witnessed an incident there on Monday that was pretty bad. A man was screaming at his young daughter and his wife, throwing stuff around and saying words no children needed to hear. The bad part was that it went on for about 10-15 minutes and the cast members who were in the gift store just watched. My husband had to ask them to call security. It was crazy. The guy was still acting crazy when he got to the parking lot. I felt really bad for the little girl.

That is sad. I too have witnessed similar situations over the years. As a father of four children I understand how challenging it can be sometimes. I also realize we give so little, or should I say zero training on how to be a parent. Most of us learn how to and how not to by imitating the examples around us. That can work out well for there are many fine examples. But too often there are poor examples. I hope that this example above is not a reflection of this father's overall parenting skills.

It seems to me that this is a neglected area of our society.

I have often wondered when people treat their families like that out in public, how do they treat them behind closd doors.:sad2:

We had a similar incident about 5 months ago at THD. One of the associates did try to defuse the situation and calm the man down, but to no avail. The guy took a swing at the associate, the associate swung back, and was fired the next day. He was told by the HR manager that it was not his place to intervene in a family argument and he should have left it alone or called the store manager to handle the situation. Pretty sad when one human being can't come to the aid of a child for fear of losing their job. That's probably why the CM's did nothing. Sad, just sad. :guilty:

WHAT!?!?!?! I wonder if associates are told during training not to interfere with family arguments and if an argument is occuring to call their manager. I wonder if the managers are trained to diffuse a situation where a man or a woman is belittling, screaming, ranting, or threatening a loved one. Give me a break. Whoever this associate is should be thanked for his efforts to take up for the meek, not fired! If that is their policy, then I change my mind about wanting to work for WDW when I grow up! Well, this has put me in a rotten mood. I better go re-read Gatordad's trip report so I can laugh and not fume!!!!

Well, I would invite you and ftwildernessgirl over for a bbq, but I don't think you will come, being I'm so close to that dreaded Fort Dix!!! :rolleyes1

You weren't serving ballistic meatballs with ticks, were you?

I really wasn't expecting them to try to intervene, because honestly the guy was really scaring me. I really thought they should have called security right away and not have a guest have to request it. We actually called later and spoke with the manager over security at Typhoon Lagoon and he said the employees are trained to call security. If they had done that right away I wouldn't have had an issue at all, but they just stood there staring just like everybody else. I can't imagine how he treats his family at home.

This answers my wondering question. I guess that's why the guy Debbie was talking about got fired. They are trained to call security, not take matters into their own hands. I guess it could be a liability for Disney if an employee gets hurt? At least they are allowed to do something.

No ballistic meatballs. However, my meatballs are very tasty, if I do say so myself. ::yes:: As for the ticks, I wouldn't be serving those. I cannot guarantee you don't pick any up, though. I do live in the woods.

I wish I lived in the woods. I hate neighbors. :rolleyes1

You know, I didn't read this thread at first when I got home, but it kept coming back up to the top, and I couldn't figure out why..... NOW I KNOW!!!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

I swear if I see one more damn thing about MJ and how great he is, I am going to go Elvis on my TV!!!!

I don't care if I get in trouble, I don't care if people think less of me, I am so sick of people defending that sicko, it makes me want to SCREAM!!!! If you know nothing else about MJ, you should know that he stated on a national TV interview that he loved to sleep with little boys!!!! With that one statement alone, I will never believe that he was innocent in either of his molestation cases, let alone all the ones that were bought off before they became public.

He was judged in the end by God, and I am sure that he is paying for the innocence that he stole from those little kids.

RANT OVER.

Geez John, tell us how you really feel. :lmao:

My thoughts exactly! If they have no restraint in public, it scares me to think how they act when they think no one is watching! I really feel for these people's kids! Can you imagine growing up, hearing that all the time??? Do they realize their own flesh and blood is being crushed by the second??? These people need a taste of their own medicine! I mean who do they think they are? MJ?
