I have just watched mamma mia for the first time and to be quite honest it was ok but i was a bit dissapointed after all the hype about it what does everyone else think?
I've seen it on the big screen, airline small screen and home TV and it's definitely a film for the big screen. I actually wanted to clap after songs like it was onstage I loved it and the music, a nice feel good film
I loved it on the stage, in the cinema and at home when I watched it yesterday.
What I did notice about the film version is that it made me cry a lot more. I think Meryl Streep plays it so well and looks so anguished at times that I was bawling with her (Chiquitita and then The Winner Takes it All )
i loved it,when i seen it,at the cinema.a great feel good movie!
it was also one of the choices,on the plane coming home from florida.i fell asleep & i was woken up,by my 8 year old grandaughter, wanting to know what, dot dot dot meant
tracy
I'm in the minority then. I really didn't enjoy it at all. Found it really cringeworthy, like watching your parents dancing at a wedding, thinking please make them stop! Would not watch it again - ever.
DH and I lOVED, LOVED, LOVED the stage show and saw it twice, once on Broadway and once in Las Vegas. We thought Carol Linnea Johnson as Donna was fab, (she was in both shows) but Meryl did well in the film
It was interesting to me that my daughter thinks the young girl is the main character, but to me it is Donna and her middle-aged love story that is the main theme of the film. The youngsters in it are just filler.
Of course I am at an age where my children would be begging me to stop dancing at a wedding.
