Hi,

On July 18th, I have one table service reservation for Le Cellier at 7:40 PM. However, I had to cancel Mama Melrose's to get Le Cellier. Anyways, I have been really wanting to try Mama Melrose's, so I thought it would be great for lunch. Has anybody else done this? If so, what did you think?

Thanks,
Simon :)

We are going there for the first time in September so you will have to tell me!

We had lunch here last August and it was less crowded than at dinner. It was a nice break and our service was better than when we have had dinner here. My favorite penne a'la vodka wasn't on the lunch menu and I was a little disapointed but the server asked the chef about it and they made it for me. Planning on another lunch here next trip.

We have lunch at Mama's every trip. It is a very pleasant respite from the park and we enjoy the food. Kevin and Dori are great servers and we request them.

We ate lunch there in March, and really enjoyed our meal. It was very uncrowded (2pm adr), and I really liked our server. Here's my write up (taken from the overall Trip Report)

Our server was Barbara, and she’s been at MM for about 9 years. She was really a good server. I didn’t mention DD’s birthday, but she was wearing a birthday button.

We ordered:

Plain penne pasta and a sprite – mom
Cheese flatbread and a sprite – DS
Calamari (appetizer size) and a coke – DD
Pasta Fagoli Soup and water – me

Everything was tasty (although there’s not much you can say about plain pasta). My soup was more like a chili than the pasta fagoli I’ve had other places, but it was very filling. As we were finishing up, DD asked for some chocolate gelato, and DS said he wanted vanilla gelato. Mom had eaten about half her pasta, and DS had a couple slices of the pizza left so we got to-go containers.

Barb came out with a really neat lava cake dessert that the chef had made just for DD. It had chocolate lettering that said “Happy Birthday” on the plate, and there was a scoop of gelato on top! She said that she had already had the chef working on the dessert when DD asked for the gelato, so she just had him dump it on top. The three ladies all shared the chocolate. DS decided he was maybe too full for his gelato anyway. The kids headed back toward the resort while I settled the bill. Total with tip was $50. Barb brought us a to-go cup which we put the gelato in.

Hope this helps you decide. I'd ask for Barbara again in a heartbeat. She was very good!

Mama Melrose is something DH and I have done every trip to Disney, we love it, and it has always been for lunch. We always eat something small for breakfast and get there right when they open for lunch and get sat right away. Each visit we've gotten same thing, DH gets the 4-cheese flatbread, and I get the grilled chicken flatbread. Since we were on the Dining plan for two of our trips, we also each got a Caeser Salad one year, and one year I think we got the Bruschetta for an appitzier. Although at lunch you still get bread before your meal, so the Bruschetta and bread was a little much, although both very good. I can't comment on the pasta's since neither of us has had them, but the flatbreads are delicious. I know it's not very daring, but we can't help it, we love them.
