Tell me about Mama Melrose please! Would you choose this for dinner over Sci-Fi? We currently have an ADR at Sci-Fi but I'm considering switching to MM (if I can). Our other MGM day we are eating at 50's PTC. That's the only TS restaurant at MGM we are familiar with.

I considered H&V but we have several other buffets scheduled and wanted something a little different.

Thanks!

I would choose MM over Sci Fi, because the menu appeals to me more. We dine at MM on just about every trip and enjoy it very much. :thumbsup2

We love both, but they are totally different. Our best meal of the entire May trip was at MM, surprising because it often gets poor reviews, we have always had a great meal here. I also requested recipes from MM, and they arrived in the mail just the other day.

Sci-fi is a family tradition with us. We all love eating in the dark cars and watching the campy clips on the big screen. We always go here, and always have a great time.

50's is ok, but to "diner style, plain" for us. the food is ok, and we love the antics of the staff, but only go here occaisionally. Took my Dcousin for her 50th bday last summer, lots of fun.

We ate there in Dec and it was very blah and bland. The food was not even served hot and they do not give you bread with your meal. I would not go back there.

Have ressies there for Feb! I know I wanrt the Tiramasu for dessert and I think the steak ! Any comments on these items?? I love asparagus and I see that comes with the steak!!

I really like that steak and have ordered it both times that we dined at MM. The steak is on top of sum yummy polenta and is topped with blue cheese. The aspargus that come with the steak are cooked just the way I like them which is still a little bit crunchy. I had the Tiramasu this year and it was OK but kind of dry so you might want to try another dessert. I had the calamari app this year for the first time and it was very good.

Thanks I will definately try the steak .I'll check out the other desserts too but I love Tiramusu!!

MM over Sci-Fi for the food, yes. Sci-Fi has the atmosphere by a mile.

This is all a matter of personal opinion. We prefer Mama Melrose...we have had a good meal there the last two times we have been there. We do not like Hollywood & Vine or Sci-Fi at all (except for the milkshakes).

I've never been to Mama Melrose's, but we had Sci-Fi for lunch in July and the food didn't even come close to the prices. :sad2:

Since you always goto scifi can you answer a question for me? Can you request a car on your ressie? i thought you could and when i called the cm told me it had to be done at the podium upon arrival??????????

MM is our favourite restaurant! We went there twice on our last visit. Our favouite dish is the 4 cheese flatbread. It's out of this world! The steak that a previous poster mentioned is also really good. I generally don't like polenta, but the stuff that MM serves is really, really creamy delicious. Oh, and this time I tried the ministrone, and it was the best I've ever had. I could have made a meal out of that soup!
My favourite dessert was the crema limone. It was kinda like a mild lemon pudding with fresh berries inside and whipped cream. After a big meal, it's the perfect ending!

Does any one else think that MGM needs more TS places to eat. I am having a terrible time finding a menu that sounds good and then some place with a December opening.

We normally leave the park by boat and head to Boardwalk but we did this last family trip and it was a disaster. We left at 4 PM for a 5 PM at Spoodles. We got there early, had a very rushed but good meal and then tried to get a boat back to MGM to see Fantasmic and boat after boat arrived full and would only take three or four people and leave. It took us an hour and a 45 minutes to get back. Thus we could not get into the stadium for the show. My poor father was distraught as that is his favorite show!

I do not want that to happen this December but I am having a terrible time finding a place to eat. As of now all I can get is a lunch at 50's PT.

Where can I go and get a good meal? We could easily leave the park at 3 or 4 PM and I will use a car this time! The day we are going there are two shows, one at 6:30 and one at 8PM. Does this mean they expect the park to be very very busy this day? Maybe I should just find another day to do MGM?

I agree MGM needs more restaurants, Am trying Mama Melroses for the first time in Feb! The food at Sci Fi for me was not good Shrimp dish was bland and apple dessert was awful, However the others all liked their steaks and the milkshakes are out of this world!! I enjooyed H&V breakfast with the GKs

Sci Fi is really nothing special. Sure, the kids would like to eat in a car, but I was quite disappointed with this restaurant. Planning on the Mama Melrose Fantasmic next trip instead!

Yes, absolutely agree with you. We love Mama Melrose; we can handle Prime Time, but dislike all of the other table services. They need mroe with more varied menus.

I know that it gets bad reviews, but I really enjoyed MM our last trip. It was in a nice relaxing spot out of the way. The food isn't five star service, but it is very good and we had a wonderful waitress. She even allowed us many substitutions and didn't charge us any extra.

For all of you who love Tiramasu, here is what it looks like and it taste even better than it looks!

We did MM last Aug. during free dining. It was terrible in my family's opinion. In fact, everyone told me to pick any place, but that one for our next trip. We had really looked forward to dining there, but was really disappoinited.
