Hey fellow dissers,
I have made my adrs about 1 month ago. I am going back down in sept:cool1: , I have never ate at Mama Melroses so I made a reservation and I am reading a lot of bad reviews lately. I was just wondering about any opinions here if anyone has any. I am not a quick eater so I am not a person who would get upset with slower service(not one of those people on vacation who has to go, go, go, go) I like to relax. Is the food okay or should i change my adr to something else.
Thank you

Hi,

You will always find good and bad reviews for any restaurant. My advice is: if the menu appeals to you, give it a try! Who cares what anyone else thinks?

We just ate there in June. The food was not too great. I ordered the Bruscetta (sp?) appetizer and it was not bad but not good either. I also ordered the Penna ala Vodka. I make vodka sauce and that was not it. It was a very over salted sauce and I do mean over salted. I really dont know what sort of sauce it was but I know it was not vodka cream sauce. I like salt but this was pushing it. Also, the pasta was way over cooked. DW ordered the same thing except she ordered the Caprese Salad Appetizer. The Caprese Salad was very good though.

We eat at MM every time we come to Disney ( about every 2-3 years), and my kids (15,10) love it. My wife and I have never had much to complain about either. Remember, it's Disney. If you like the menu, we say try it and decide for yourself ! Good luck and have fun !!:thumbsup2

Well said! :thumbsup2

We eat at MMs on just about every trip and have never had a bad meal. We will be back there in 11 days and I can't wait.

Het lordnamis! I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I have never eaten at MM either, but the menu really appeals to me. I picked it because I love Italian food and it is hard to really mess up, and also because I've eaten everywhere else on MGM and wasnt impressed with other eateries, so I might as well try the place that I've never eaten. The only thing I heard is to be sure to ask for bread!

We love MM! DH and I went for the first time with DD this past spring on the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We have it on our list to repeat next year. The service was great, the food was great and the menu has several other things we would like to try. :woohoo:

Hi :flower3:
We ate there in May - we love italian food so I booked MM's as part of the fantasmic package.

I had mixed greens to start and the Charred Butcher Tender Steak cooked rare. All of mine was lovely, the meat was juicy and the polenta was tasty.

DH had artisan breads and the Wood-grilled Chicken tossed with Pipette pasta. The breads were nice, I tested most :thumbsup2 The chicken pasta was poor, it was slightly over seasoned with salt, the pasta was breaking up as it was over cooked.

My Mum had the Bruschetta and the Wood-Grilled Salmon - the Bruschetta was edible but I've had much better, the Salmon was dry and over cooked (we like it a bit pink in the middle). DH and Mum had meal envy - to sum up I would go again as the atmosphere was nice and the CM's were lovely with my young children.
Give it a go, we probably hit a busy night when a couple of things got over done, that's all.
You'll hear good and bad for everywhere.

Thanks for the review! We are thinking of trying out MM's as well, but now I'm not sure... hummmmm. There are so many great places to choose from! :confused3

We would never eat at MM again, we had a horrible meal and it made us sick for the rest of the night.

Hi,

Yup, Bob said it well. For every single restaurant on property you'll find glowing reviews and reviews that trash the place. You won't know until you try it.

For what its worth, I think it's pretty good food in a very good atmosphere, and the only service issue we had is they once seated us in an area where a high chair wasn't allowed (due to traffic issues) even though they knew we needed a high chair, so they had to move us.

I know this may not help too much but we ate their in August 2005 and loved it. The service was ok but the food was good. We didn't go to MMs this last trip but we plan to go back in Jan 2009. Hope this helps :goodvibes

We've eaten here many times and have never had a problem with the service or food. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same place. My suggestion is to try it. If you like it, great, if you don't LOVE it, at least you will have tried something new, and if it's HORRIBLE, talk to a manager. But, HAVE FUN!:cool1:

We've eaten at MM twice and were happy both times. The main reason we ate there was for the Fantasmic package. There are better restaurants at WDW (Wolfgang Puck's, Chef Mickeys) but MM is good.

We eat at MM every time we go. The pizzas are good and we love the sangria.

We liked it and we are going back to MM again in Feb 08. :thumbsup2 Service was amongst the best in WDW for us and the food was good. I was too full to even touch dessert! DH really enjoyed his. It is worth trying and then you know if it's for you or not. There are conflicting reviews on almost all restaurants.

We liked it enough last year that I have it booked again for our upcoming trip. If you like the menu you should give it a try and decide for yourself. Last year I was very nervous about my Coral Reef ADR because everyone was giving it bad reviews and then it ended up being my favorite meal of the entire trip.

Hi Gang,

We ate at MM and it was not so good. We love Itilian food, but this maybe was a bit too authentic for our tastes. The kids hardly touched their food.

So we are going to try the Brown Derby in Jan 08. Anyone have anything to say about the Brown Derby?

This is the thing, I felt that MGM lacked good TS restaurants (and CS come to think of it), apart from MM's, Sci-fi, 50's prime time and the Brown Derby (which I havent been in - sorry) MGM has less to offer than other parks. I think Disney need to look to make some restaurant improvements generally at MGM.

You hit the nail on the head. MGM has restaurants with great atmospheres, but they dont put any effort into their food. This is a shame because MGM has alot of potential, but for some reason, they dont seem to want to serve food that is the quality of Epcot.:confused3
