Hi All
Deciding whether or not to do this restaurant on Fantasmic Dinner Package.
Has anyone been? How was it?

Thanks
Ruthie

Everyone has a different experience, but ours at Mama Melrose's was not good. We also got the F! dining package. We had a 3:55 ADR and were seated promptly, but our service was just awful. Our waitress was slow and inattentive. Other servers around us appeared to be doing a better job, but it took us almost 2 hours to eat and I was worried we wouldn't even get to Fantasmic on time.

As far as the food goes, none of us really enjoyed our meals. DH got the chicken parm which he said was okay. I got the steak and it was overcooked. Ds got the flatbread and it was soggy. We didn't even enjoy our desserts.

The positive is that the vouchers for F! worked really well. We got to enter in a separate entrance from everyone else and there was plenty of seating.

Everyone does have a different experience. Ours has been mostly positive. We enjoy the food, especially the flatbread.

Our server on our last trip was pretty slow, but as this was not our normal experience, we'll definitely be back.

We loved it. This one seems to be hit or miss with people but was definitely a hit with us. Very good food and service. Plus, the Fantasmic package was definitely worth it for us because the line was huge and we got right in. Based on our last two experiences, I would definitely recommend it, but I have read some less than stellar reviews too.

We had a late lunch ADR in November for 4 adults, 2 kids and an infant. The food was better than I anticipated but the service was a little rough---slow to get drinks and pacing was a little off; i.e., the appetizers (the table was sharing several) came in two installments and there was a time gap between those installments and the entrees seemed slow to come out.

I think I'd give it another "go" though. I really liked the setting.:goodvibes

We did the F! package also. The food was outstanding, some of the best we had. Service was horrendous, the only truly bad service we had the whole trip.

We've done Mama Melrose three times now with the Fantasmic Package and we have always had very good food and very good service. It is a nice atmosphere too.

We did Mama Melrose for the F! mid Jan and loved it. One of the best meals our whole trip. We had the dining plan but the F! package included appetizers. We got Huge portions of Calamari that were delicious. The portions were all large. I had the Chicken parm as did DS and DH had some sort of seafood pasta offering.
Good seats for Fantasmic but FREEZING !! ( 30 degrees !) brrrr

While everyone's experiences are going to be different I can say that ours was very positive! The food was way better than I expected based on reading reviews and our service was outstanding!

Since I am highly allergic to bell and hot peppers the Chef came to our table to meet with me. She discussed my needs and reassured me that my food would not be cross contaminated. While a Chef came to see me at all the places we ate except for one (Chef Mickey's) none were as attentive and caring as she was. She personally delivered all of my food including dessert! She really went that extra mile and I appreciated that.

We were also fortunate to have a waiter that was very attentive; but not overly so as I don't like people hovering as I eat. He made our daughter a special Chef's hat and awarded her a "Clean Plate Club" certificate! It was a nice surprise and a Happy ending to a very good meal!

I am glad we decided to try it and will be going back there again soon. I can only hope it doesn't disappoint this time around! All any of us can do is try it if it someplace that sounds good. Sometimes it works out great, sometimes just ok and sometimes down right awful. Point is you never know until you try it. Then you can judge for yourself.

Wishing you great food, great service and most of all great people to share it with!

Hi All
Thanks for all your replies!
I think we will take a chance on this one!

Our experiences (many at Mama Melrose) have always been very good. We have done the Fantasmic package many times and no problems at all... I do not like that you have to get the "early" dinner times.. like 4pm... but the food and service has always been great.

DH's second fav. meal of the week, and their child's pizzas were the only thing my girls actually finished all week! It was yummy!

We did this one on the F! package for new year's eve and we were all pleased. The only problem I noted was that the waiting area at the entrance gets a bit crowded. Our service was excellent and we were seated only about 5 minutes after our ADR time.

My daughter doesn't eat meat, though not a true vegetarian as she does sometimes enjoy a few french fries from McDonalds, and they were more than willing to alter the menu choices to better suit her taste.

We had the ceasar salad, mixed greens salad, and mozzerella and tomatoes for our appetizers and everyone enjoyed their choice. For our main entrees we had chicken pipette, pipette (without the chicken and vegetables), and mushroom ravioli. Again, we were all pleased though the portions were so large that we weren't able to eat even half our food. As we were already full and heading to Fantasmic, we order the warm chocolate truffle cakes to go (without toppings). They were great for a sweet treat the next morning.

We did the package in January. Food was good (not great, but about the level of a chain Italian restaurant). Service was OK - a bit slow, and appetizers came out at different times. The F! vouchers were great - we arrived 45 minutes before the show to find the general admission area packed but the dinner package area less than half full - no trouble getting seats together for 12 of us.

I live in Jersey, I am Italian, Sunday night is homemade macaroni and meatballs. That being said, we did NOT like Mama Melrose's at all and we will not go back there. We went for the Fantasmic pacakge, it was me, fiance, DD, sister, mom, and dad. No one in our party liked their meal, my fiance who is not a picky eater at all, did not enjoy his meal. This was the 1 Disney restaurant that a chef did not come to our table to talk to us about what was safe for our peanut allergic daughter to eat. The waitress came back after we asked to see the chef and said "the chef said stick with the pasta".
We just didn't like it.
