Mama Melrose vs Tony's

We have been to both and prefer Tonys...the calamari is better, the sauce is better, the menu selection for us is much better.

As much as I love Italian food, we don't like either of these places. They are just about the only two on my skip totally list. It' has been some years since we've done MM, but the service was REALLY bad and DH said never again. Just about the only place he's said that.

I've not tried Tutto Italiana yet, but it's on my radar for next trip.

I agree with the previous poster, we didn't care of either of them. Tony's is on our 'don't do again' list after 3 tries. So if I had to pick from those two, I would pick Mama Melroses.

But I think Tutto Italia is much better than either of those two....we had a wonderful meal there last year.

Ive got to pick Mama's! The brick oven makes the flatbread pizzas so much crispier than the industrial ovens used at Tony's. All of their products are so fresh. Plus I can see what i'm getting by watching the Chefs cook!!

We prefer Tony's, though I usually get the steak and I don't think either really qualifies as exceptional "Italian Food." Disclaimer, I'm from NY and a little bit of an "Italian Food" snob.

Wow! That's sad to hear! We ate Mama Melrose on our trip last month and it was the BEST service we had our entire vacation, so good we spoke to a manager about how much we enjoyed our waiter and would return next time we were in Disney.

The food was also good. I had the chicken parm...it was a huge portion and nice and tender, plus I loved that the chicken was only baked, a lot of places fry it first!

I've never eaten at Tony's so I can't compare the two, but we had a lovely time eating at MM!

We've eaten at Tony's once on our last trip, Mama Melrose's last trip and one other time, and Tutto's last trip. We didn't really care for Tony's because of the food, but we may try again some other time, just not our next trip. I had spaghetti/meatballs and really didn't like it, not much flavor in the sauce, sort of watery noodles and I didn't care for the meatballs. Sort of silly, but I wanted the spaghetti and meatballs from the pic/scene of Lady and Tramp having their spaghetti dinner, lol! I was hoping it would be great but not so much. DD19 got the chicken parm. and thought it was okay not great. Did like sitting outside there on the porch by the railing and watching Spectro Magic parade, though it was a bit cold out, but that was the best part there.

At Mama's we got flatbreads and they were good, not fabulous, but pretty good, we'd go there again sometime, but probably not our next trip since we only have 8 ts to pick.

We did really like Tutto's best for italian food there, though I realize you didn't ask for opinions on that restaurant, lol!

I don't like eather of them, but I have not eaten there for three years.
I am of Italian decent and from an Italian area so I am very picky about food in genreal and especially Italian food. I really disliked both of them.

But, recently the reviews of both these places have improved.
My parents have eaten at both these places the last two years without me and really say they have improved and it is as good as you will get on Disney property.
They prefer Tony's and it is always the last meal they eat in Disney.
They say the sauce is better at Tony's. It seems to me that Mama's has more choice.
I would review both menus and pick the one that your more comfortable with.

On the topic of Italian food, they prefer both of them to the Italian Resturaunt in Epcot. The Italian resturaunt in Epcot is closer to "real" italian food, not Italian American food most of us expect - FWIW.

We did lunch at Tony's last week & thought it was good. Never tried Mama Melrose.

Been to both many of times and both r good but Tony's I think is definately better. But it also on to where I will be that day.

I ate at both in March and found both of them to be just fine. I'd give the edge to Tony's, because I prefer "homestyle" Italian, though Mama Melrose may have the better atmosphere.

We've been to both restaurants, and both are OK.

They both have good "American" Italian food (if that makes sense) so if you go into either place looking for a decent "American" Italian meal then I think you'll be pleased.

Atmosphere-wise, both places are good, too. You can't beat a Main Street location for Tony's and the Lady & the Tramp theme is cute. Stepping into Mama Melrose's makes you feel as if you're at home at a local Italian place and has a comfortable setting.

I'd go for the one that best fits into your park day/touring plan.

I agree, we revisited Tony's in September and it wasn't as good as I remembered. However, we also visited Mama's for the third time and it was just as good as the other two visits.

Never been to Tonys, but we tried Mamas in Sept and did not like it at all. The food was not that good and the service was horrible. We had an older lady who just had no character and was only rude, never had a smile or kin thing to say.

As several others have said Tuttos at Epcot is great, we go there every trip, we tried to go somewhere else and just couldnt do it, even the kids were getting disappointed we thought about trying France. So, we stayed loyal to Tutto and it was my favorite meal of our trip. We have eaten there every single trip to WDW and it is always great!

We've eaten at both and liked them both. At Tony's we get steaks and chicken parm at Mama Melrose. If I had to pick, I'd pick Tony's.

Out of all of our trips to WDW, we had never tried Tony's until last trip. I had read all the horrible reviews and was hesitant to try it...

We loved it! Don't know if we just picked a good day or what! lol I had the Chicken Parm. Hubby had the steak! Don't remember what my boys had. My hubby said his steak was as good as Le Cellier & that's saying a lot...he always loves the steak there!

Also gotta say, we love Tutto for great Italian!!

So many places to eat...so little time! ;)
