Which Italian restaurant would you recommend? Or are they both bad? We live in the NE so we are used to good, reasonably priced Italian, but it is our kids' favorite cuisine....

DH is Italian. We didn't like either. The pasta was just like you bought it in a package and overcooked it at home. We were expecting more. What Italian resturant doesn't serve bread? Mama Melrose! Now maybe because of comming from an Italian background we expected more? I'm as "mungicake" as they apparently come and even I was disappointed. JM2C.

What aboutthe Italian restaurant in Epcot? I have not eaten there but I would think it would be most like real Italian. We like Mama Melrose but I must say it is not as good as an Olive Garden.

We've been to both and I would definitely recommend Tony's hands down.:thumbsup2 The service we had a MM's was terrible and the food wasn't that great. We ate at Tony's for the first time last January and we loved it! Our server, Casey, was wonderful and the food was delicious! The portions are very generous! When we were planning our trip for last October, my DH said that Tony's was a "must". We ate there again and were not disappointed. The food was just as good as we remembered!

I have not been to Tony's or Mama Melroses in several years, but I have to say, Tutto Italia is really delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Tutto and would highly recommend it anyday.

I've heard bad things about Mama Melrosa's, but we are trying it for the first time in Sept stil.

We ate at Tony's this past year and I didn't like it. My server was good, but it was very "rushed", not that I want to sit all day but a nice break would be nice. Our food literally arrived within 5 minutes of ordering it. The food was just so so.

if you want good Italian, Il Mullino in the Swan. can't use the dining plan though

My "ranking" of the Italian restaurants at Disney:
Il Mulino
Tutto
Portobello
Mama Melrose
Tonys

We had a mediocre experience at Tony's -- blah food and poor service -- but a very nice meal at MM. The flatbread pizza and pastas were all good, and service was attentive. MM is certainly our family's favorite sit-down at DHS (Brown Derby being too upscale for my rowdy boys.)

If you want really good Italian, head to Tutto Italia at Epcot.:thumbsup2

We aren't sold on Italian, however nothing really looked better at DHS. Any ideas? Are we better dining at WCC (staying at WL) instead?

Hi, I have been to Mamma Melrosa's 3x in our last 2 visits and the food has been VERY GOOD!! I have also dined at Tuttu Italia and that is excellent Italian food as is Il Mulino. I have not been to Tony's in a few years but we will be going on our upcoming trip!! Joan

On our last visit in Sept we visited both MM and Tonys for the first time. We enjoyed both but I liked MM better. The entire meal was great. Tony's was also good but I was a little disappointed with dessert. I guess the only think at MM I was not pleased with was the bread. It was cold. It would have been much better warm. I had heard some not so good things about MM but was pleasantly suprised with our meal. We will be eating their on our next trip.

We've always had a good meal at Mama Melrose's. Tutto Italia in EPCOT is very good too. We HATED Tony's and we even gave it two tries in case we had just hit a bad night the first time.

Our favorite Italian is Tutto's in Epcot. We have also eaten at Tony's and Mama Melrose's. Tony's was pretty good. DS had the chicken parm which I liked and DH had a steak which was very good. I did not like my pasta with Italian sausage. We had excellent service and would try Tony's again.
Mama Melrose's is a different story. We didn't like any of our food and the service was awful.
Chosing between those 2 I would definitely pick Tony's.

Neither are great but we prefer Mama Melrose's over Tony's. That said we are dining at neither of those on our upcoming trip next week. Instead we are trying Il Mulino at the Swan hotel.

Neither has truly good Italian food like you woudl get at a true Italian restaurant.

MM has pretty decent food of an Olive Garden quality- not real Italian but decent food.

Tonys is like eating at a Sbarros in a food court quality food.

We had horrible meals at Mama Melrose, but on the same trip we voted our meal at Tony's #2, right behind LeCellier!
We didn't get any dishes with red sauce at Tony's, though. I remember DH had steak (said it was perfect) and my salmon, which was very good. Don't remember what my DD got. I had the calimari appetizer at both restaurants, and Tony's blew away Mama Melrose, which was a tremendous surprise.

Depending on the ages and type of kids you have you may find WCC's rowdyness more suited to your kids. My kids loved it the first time because of the Ketchup thing. DD 13 at the time has ketchup on everything. Needless to say they had a ball with that. If your kids are the type to embrace the atmosherpe at WCC then I would recommend that instead of the other resturants you had on your original post.

I've been to both and will never return to Mama Melrose's. I thought MM had horrible food and even worse service. On the other hand, we love Tony's Town Square. We usually eat there at least once, sometimes more than once. We've never had their pasta; we always get the steak. The only complaint I have about TTS is that the menu isn't as good as it was 5 years ago. Other than that, we've always been more than happy with our meal there.

Being from the northeast (like myself) you are better off just skipping all the "italian" restaurants in WDW. Tutto is a fair attempt at good italian, but not if you're used to italian food from the NE. I would rate it as an upscale Olive Garden at much higher prices! Just my two sense
