Mama Melrose or Hollywood & Vine...Fantasmic Dinner Package

I am not sure which we should choose. We are going to be eating at the Hollywood & Vine for either breakfast or lunch for a character meal and are unsure if we should do it twice. We have young kids (6, 5, and 2) so immediately getting food in front of them makes the dining experience more pleasant. We want to take advantage of the priority seating so we can avoid the longer wait time for Fantasmic. What is Mama Melrose like? Is it family friendly enough that our children wouldn't feel out-of-place? I would rather not take them to an "adult" restaurant. How long does a meal typically last at Mama Melrose's?

How does the priority seating work? If we buy the Fantasmic package, will we be guaranteed a seat? When should we get in line for it? Can we bring snacks into it? We thought if we had to wait a while, we might get our desserts and have them while we wait.

We are leaving for WDW in the morning and I've read some reviews last night of HW&V and now I'm worried we won't like the food! Any comments or suggestions as what to avoid???

H&V was terrible, the food blech, the service non existant....I would pick Mama Melrose anyday

We love Mama Melrose's and make a point to eat there at least once every trip. Our kids, and my sister's kids always enjoy it and the servers are great with the them. I know that there have been some not so nice reviews of the place, but I honestly don't understand them.

Just ate @Mama Melrose for the first time with the Fantasmic Dinner & Show package last week...have done H&V three times with the Fantasmic package and greatly prefer Mama Melrose. It is totally kid friendly! With the dinner package you get an appetizer, entrée and dessert
At the end of your meal your server will give you a card that will allow you to enter the Fantasmic theater from a secret entrance (next to the gas station just inside the main gates.) They will tell you to be there at least a 1/2 hour before the show starts. The seating in the theater is benches so seats are not assigned but they reserve accordingly.

We love Mama's over HW&V. We tend to enjoy plated vs all you care to eat locations.

Too many visits to count all just as magical as the first in 1985!
