I've made up my mind (I think) to do the Fantasmic dinner package. Originally I chose H&V but the reviews are giving me doubts. Now I'm also considering Mama Melrose's. Can anyone tell me what the food is like at each and, at MM's, is there a special menu? Thanks!

I haven't eaten at either of these places, but I would pick Mama Melroses because I avoid buffets. I have eaten at Brown Derby, the other Fantasmic Package option, and really enjoyed it the first time and had fun the second, but the meal was not as good.

Ate at H&V on Friday night, have to say it was pretty bad. Food mediocre at best, DH's comment was that he didn't think it was possible to ruin a Caesar salad, but they did. I found the seafood pasta edible, along with the marscapone snickers cheesecake bites. The service was not the greatest either, we didn't get drink refills till the check was presented. :( I'd probably go with Mama's. although we haven't eaten there.

My experience at Hollywood and Vine was a good one. The food was solid. Everything was to temperature. It's not gourmet, but you get a good variety, usually a couple of carved meats, a chicken dish, some other dishes, overall good meal. Nothing spectacular but a solid meal nonetheless. It hit the spot. They were observing proper hold times when I was there. Nothing sat out too long. We got our drinks filled regularly. The noise was considerable, though no worse than your average Disney establishment. The Salad Bar was fresh, though it was a bit low on variety imo. The alternate salad when I went was a spinach salad. It was good. They also had the usual Tuna and Chicken Salad which I always decide not to try. They also had a seafood salad which was tasty, but paled in comparison to the one they had at Chef Mickey's.

We're trying Mama Melrose this time because we added a buffet to the ajenda this year in 1900 PF and made a move for variety's sake. But we'd return to H and V and liked it.

It's running about 80% thumbs up with an average rating of 7/10 at allears

We had always done MM and last year we decided to try H&V. We're going back to MM this year. Not that H&V was bad, it's just that MM is better, and not having to get up and down for food is always a plus.

WE have eaten at both H&V and MM on past trips. I would say it depends on the preferences of your family. If you are going with a larger group H&V provides a lot of variety and we have always been satisfied there --- no reason to leave hungry. Seating there is also conducive to larger groups. We have had consistently good service there also. I thought the food was superior at MM but our service wasn't very good there. The night we were there it seemed to take a very long time for everything. I think our server was new. Our June trip we have Brown Derby reserved but we would definitely go back to either restaurant.

We did the Fantasmic package with Mama Melrose's and we liked it. There is a special menu to order from but you still have choices. The food was good, and there was lots of it. We walked out of there so stuffed! If I remember correctly we had a four cheese flatbread, salad, an entree for each of us, and dessert. The service was okay, not super attentive, but not horrible. We would definitely go back!
