Mama and her 6 kitties (long) UPDATED

Yesterday I called home to speak to DH about who had what game and 15 yo DS excitedly tells me what he "found". Apparently next door neighbor thought there was an animal in his storage area in his garage and asked DS to go up and check it out. What do they find but a very friendly Mama and her 6 little babies-about 4 weeks old. DS tells me DH says we can keep one, I laugh knowingly because first of all DS is 15-he has very selective teen hearing right now-and secondly I know DH and he said 3 is enough we do not live in a cat house! I get home and we all go next door to look at these babies. Neighbor has by this time called animal control who will euthanize them all-they don't keep cats in our control area. I ask him to please wait as-and this is the part you all can't laugh at OK? Since a pet store opened last fall up the street from me and they sell kitties-they are from a no kill shelter that runs it and is very reputable- we go at least twice a week to see the kitties. Sometimes we go for a quick get a way without the kids, sometimes it is part of our date night, sometimes he takes me when I am really stressed-----it has gotten so bad that the owner and volunteers know us and I know the kitties and ask about them by name! So up we head prior to a meeting at HS for DD, the owner tells me she just can't take them as she had picked up 17 kittens alone yesterday and they are inudated with them. I say OK knowing that the neighbor will do the unspeakable and she says wait a minute, would you be willing to keep them for 2 more weeks and then bring them back to the shelter to test and give shots to and spay or neuter and then adopt out. I look in wonder at DH who says sure why not? OK here is the most incredulous part he says today we may as well keep 2 and then all of our kids will have one to call their own, lol! He is a sucker for anything small and cuddly, I am not sure why he loves me, lol! So here I sit in my office with my 6 new babies and a beautiful very friendly Mama.....anybody want a kitten, lol?

Aww, that is just so sweet. Two thumbs up for your DH and for YOU! Around where I live kittens are harder to find than a needle in a haystack. Even the shelters can't keep up with the demand.

Enjoy your time with Mom and her new babies. This is the first year in the past 3 years that we haven't had any stray Mom cats with kittens. I'm but about it too if you know what I mean.

Edited to add, I see you're in MA. Try putting a sign out. You might be pleasantly surprised with the number of folks looking for kittens. All of ours from 4 different litters were taken within a week of me putting a sign outside of my house!

UPDATE:

The kids have named them all and they are all doing great!
Mama is black with white face and socks-Kids named her Jasmine

The kittens are, I think, 5 females and 1 male.
2 twins-Tourtise Shell-1 w.double paws named Stripes and the other regular named Koda

2 more twins- kind of Striped Tabby with some orange-both w/double paws-1 onlyf front named Alice and the other both front and back named Little Red, she has a red spot on her head just like DS, 11-he was born with it and it keeps getting larger!

The other 2-1 is all black w/a hint of white under chin----biggest one and right front paw is a triple and left is a double and backs are both double paws named Tigger! The other one is this very delicate tiger striped w/an all orange face and w/a hint of white name Tinkerbelle!

Goal for the afternoon after I am done cleaning. We have a digital camera and I am going to take a picture which I can do, lol. The difficult part will be trying to figure out how to post it, lol!
