Mall Of America

It's not usually someplace we go to shop for something specific, it's a pain for that. More just to wander and snack.
This, even when I lived close enough to see it from my window, I would drive past it to Southdale or go the other way down to Burnsville if either of them had a specific thing I was looking for. Occasionally that was the only place in the Cities that had whatever store you wanted.

....Many malls seem to be only about 60% occupied. Even what I'd consider "large" malls (Destiny USA in Syracuse is an example) seemed to have a LOT of unoccupied stores....MOA is an attraction by itself. I don't know that it would have been built today. As @kanerf said, many people are used to shopping online, making a physical mall unnecessary, and a waste of resources.
...the same owners/builders that constructed MOA, took up the almost defunct American Dream, which is located here in northern N.J. It contains a water park, indoor ski/snowboard slope, ice-skating rink and a Nickelodeon theme park too. JMHO but it is a total waste of space - I have NEVER seen it even close to being crowded and would never shop at the majority of featured stores. Plus, you have to pay for parking!!! Ridiculous - pay for parking to go to basically a glorified mall??!?!? It used to be free for up to one hour, but now the minimum price is $10 [don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure of the fees.]

I go to the American Dream mall every year for the last 3 years the day after Christmas and it is very busy. So it can get pretty busy there. I think they do alright...

I believe it’s free for the first hour, $5 after that.
