Maliboomer closes for disassembly on Sept 6th. There is no replacement planned at this time.

Ick. Good riddance. I talked my DH into going on it with my on my birthday last December. He hates free fall type rides with an unearthly passion (with an exception for ToT), so this was quite the concession on his part and we hadn't done this one before. I used to love Freefall at Magic Mountain when I was a kid and I love ToT, so I thought it would be great. But, boy-oh-boy, talk about a claustrophobic feeling behind that scream shield! I couldn't wait to get out of there.

And, I like that there will be a grassy area in DCA to help mitigate some of the concrete. As the recent DCA thread posters have commented on, DCA's is looking so much better with more and more landscaping.

I have never done the Mail Boomer since we're usually there with just the immediate family. But since the extended family trip is coming up, I think I'll talk my brother into going with me, just to say I've riden it.

So sad to see it go.:sad2: First they said it was going, then it got a reprieve, and then again it's slated for demolition. Well at least my DD10 finally got tall enough to ride it. :goodvibes We ride it everytime we go, at least once. I love the rush you feel as it shoots up! :cloud9: We use Single Rider line most of the time so we only have to wait 5-10 minutes, max.

We will defintely be riding it as much as possible. And I will take many pictures of it so I can remember it nostalgically. ;)

I wonder how this is going to affect Screaming! I'm sure they will have to close Screaming as there is no way for them to safely dismantle Boomer since Screaming goes right around it!

Gol dang. I was hoping it would be next year, if they have to do it at all.

Hubby really really wants to ride it, but hasn't been able to yet.

Stupid prolactinoma...(causes fairly extreme weight gain, or in his case size gain while *losing* weight, and he just hasn't been able to get the strap thing clipped to the bottom of the U on the restraint)

For anyone who laments the loss - there are at least 100 other identicle rides to this one scattered around the world. It is in no way unique. Not the ride system, not the ride profile, nothing.

Go find one of those and ride it.

I am quite sad to see this ride leaving! Every time I take one of my friends on this ride, they end up falling in love with it, just like I have! September 6 will be a sad day for me. :sad1:

Do you find anything that makes it better than the one at Knotts?

It's in California Adventures which has a better overall atmosphere and view than Knotts. Also when I'm at DLR and I need a little adrenaline boost, I go on it.

Does anyone know if it is going to be replaced by anything?

Aww I hope we make it over before then. I wanna try it out. DD is tall enough too but not sure I'll get her to go on it.
