Animal Kingdom June 6

We got up early and got there for the opening of AK.Of course we went in thru RainForest Cafe.

DSIS and I bought our son's the Mickey Magical Moments Game that you activate at different Rides throughout the Parks.

Very Cute Game and loads of fun activating them at the different rides. cost 19.99

Made our way back to Harambe for the safari Ride.Did not fast pass this we only had to wait about 10 minutes so we went on.

Safari was ok not alot of animals out but still a good showing.
The Elephants were out and close to the road.

And the Lioness was atop the rocks Made a Great Picture.

From Harambe we made our way over to Kali River where the monkeys were really putting on a show.Watched them for awhile and got a fast pass.

then we went to Tuskers for a morning snack for the kids and bought our meal coupons.

so off we go we did Tarzan Rocks then headed over to
DinoLand. We stopped and did the water squirt Game.COST $2 all the midway games cost extra money so be prepared with DD or loads of ones.

First Magicial Moment DS won the BIG PRIZE a dino named Sneakers

Nephew was tired and hungery and not happy so we did one more game and rode Triceratop Spin then off to Resturantsaurus for lunch McNuggents and wraps. DH and I shared the wrap it was really good. We Did the AK meal deal. But Note if you use it here for the kids meal all they offer is Chicken McNuggets.

The Meal Deal is Great! well worth the 10.99 and 5.99 price.

we ate then off again. We went back to Kali River to find the ride shut down but were told the would honor our fast pass anytime during that day.

we all got Ice Creams and water with our coupons.

then off again to Kali River by this time we are really melting we really picked the wrong day to go to AK the hottest day of our trip and AK is the hottest park anyway.

Kali river was great we had a terrific boat load of fellow rafters.

Kids had had enough of the heat so we decided to go to RFC and get souvies and back to the hotel for a swim and a nap before we headed off to Epcot for our PS at Rose & Crown for dinner.

Back at the AllStars (Music) we went Swimming at least we tired to the pool was wall to wall teens.so we all got wet at least and cooled off then back to the room for a nap. This is something we usually do not do but the heat really took it toll on the children this trip.

We all got up and showered then off to Epcot.
via the boardwalk and the international Gateway.

Got to R&C at 7:15 for our 8:00 PS asked for a patio table and was told"we do not etc etc etc...."

We we seated a few minutes later had not finished our drinks on the patio. Not a great tables but on the Patio.

Let me preface this next part with we have eaten at R&C every trip for 18 years and have always been seated on the Patio and had Great Service and Great Food.

Not the case this time. we waited about 20 minutes for the waiter to even ackwoledge that we we there.I even went over to the pin cart and purchased Pins befor he made it to the table.

finally he came and we ordered. It was about 7:45.Well our appetizers came out and that was that Illuninations starts at 9:00 and we still did not have our entrees so I went for the manager! He said they were almost ready that he had been in the kitchen preparing the food himself.Well I do not know if the Chef had quit or what but it gets worse.I said well now the children are watching illuminations could you keep it warm and bring it out as soon as it is over.that was fine so we watched the show.

Food arrives promptly as Illuninations ends. Potatos are cold no au jus for the Prime Rib and everything was so saltly you could not eat it. I do not mean just a little saltly I mean like pouring salt on your hand and licking it off salty. Well by then my very laid back husband blew a fuse. This is his fav rest being British he looks forward to his meal at the R&C! He asked for the manager. It is now around 9:15.The manager offers to bring us all a fresh plate.I decline I am over it by now and have lost my appetite.(I got the Salmon only ate a couple of bites because of the salt.

Well to make a long story short dinner was ruined. The manager comped all of our tab including the wine and drinks. And we were not the only ones another couple seated at the same time as us had their dinner comped also. Now this never makes my husband happy he says he does not want free food and has turned this down several times to make a point(over the years)but not tonight he was livid.

Having said all this we will still do
R&C next trip because one bad night does not make a rest. Now if we had never eaten here befor we might not come back and give it another try.But since we have and know it can be great we will.

Another note the lower patio is no longer annual passholder viewing anyone can sit there and has a great view of illuminatons.

So grab a snack somewhere and make you way down there for a great viewing area if you do not want to eat ant the R&C.

After this fiaso we head back to the boardwalk and the boardwalk bakery for treats and then took in a jazz band under the BoardWalk Villas very magicial moment. Great trio of musicians and we had a ball singing with them.

back to the allstars.

end of day two.

Sorry to hear your dinner wasn't what you expected. Thanks for posting

Marla that is what I get for defending the R&C in a post about one families bad expeirence there recently. LOL

I also told the manager to check out the site and do a search for Rose and Crown. Hope he does and makes some changes real soon.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying some of your vacation!

WE also had an AWFUL experience with the R 7& C! We had a PS there last Sept to celebrate our 1st anniv. We arrived very early, asked for a patio table, waited FOREVER, well past our PS time, well over an hour, and then were offered an INSIDE table!

The worst part, though, was the RUDENESS of the CM's we had contact with! To a person, they were downright nasty!
To make a long story short, we told them to keep their table. We ended up stopping at Canada to look at the menu, and they were so nice! You know, the kind of service we expect from Disney, they had the "Disney Magic"! We ended up having a wonderful dinner there. We were going to be first timers at R&C, at this point is is very unlikely that we will go back there.

Can't wait to read your day 3 trip report! I wish I was that organized about writing them. :o

Well, it sounds like te day in a whole was good. Hope to hear more.
