Anyone else see this? We saw it last week and really enjoyed it - I've never been particularly keen on Angelina Jolie but thought she was brilliant in this.
I got to see a preview last week and really enjoyed it. I thought they casted perfectly with Angelina Jolie, not a massive fan of her but she is also very good in Changeling
We just saw it Thursday night and both daughters and I loved it! My oldest daughter and I just wished they had put more in of Aurora living with the pixies. They were a hoot.
I absolutely loved Maleficent and you're all right - Angelina Jolie was perfect for the role! I adored Isobelle Molloy as "Young Maleficent" - I thought she was stunning! The character of Diaval was also amazing!
I have to admit though, I wasn't a fan of the fairies - I much preferred Fauna, Flora and Merryweather! I could have done without the addition of these new fairies!

I didn't much like the fairies either as to be honest, they were completely useless in this movie. Don't get me started on Prince Phillip lol. Overall I did enjoy the movie and Angelina Jolie was fantastic as Maleficent. She really fleshed out the character and made it her own.

You're right - the way that Maleficent was portrayed was just incredible! I found myself wanting her to win and be happy, while feeling conflicted as she's traditionally the villain!
I just thought that they changed the fairies personalities/characters too much - they didn't seem as sweet or nice in this new version, which was a shame! I won't ask about Prince Phillip lol!
I really enjoyed the film but there were a couple of things that I didn't like so much
- who would name their child "malificient" it means "tendency to be harmful / evil" ? the story should have been like malificient became a nickname, not her actual name
- well let's be honest the ending is like Frozen
So don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Frolificient. But I don't think it would have been a bad idea if she would have actually been a villain.

I definitely agree with you about her name! Seeing her as a child made her more "human" and relatable, but it also raised questions about her parents and like you said, why they chose that name for her?!
I'm on the fence about her wickedness - a part of me wished she was a bit more villainous and we could see more of that evil side, but I don't know if that would have fit with the storyline/ending! But I agree, even when she was supposed to be being mean, she was still pretty pleasant!

We saw it for Mr Mc's birthday ~ agree that never been into Angelina Jolie as an actress before ourselves but this was her part, alright :-D Amazing film which we can't wait to own on bluray :-D
I love it. I wasn't expecting to like it as much. The only thing I couldn't warm to was Professor Umbridge as a Fairy! I can't handle characters doing more than one movie!
What always made me laugh was at the christening scene when Umbridge/Knotgrass said with the other fairies said they were magic and "very good with children". I couldn't help but think "yeah right" and laugh
