Maleficent

It definitely is a Disney film.

We saw the trailer in the theater recently, either in front of Frozen or Catching Fire, I forget which one.

I'm sure we'll see it. I think it will at least be better than the two very strange live action "Snow White" adaptations of a couple of years ago. (The ones with Julia Roberts and Charlize Theron as the queens.)

This is going to be amazing. I tried posting a couple of links but for some reason when I post a link to youtube for the trailer 2 or teaser, it displays that the video isn't available because of copy write issues.

If you google, you can find the trailer 1, teaser trailer 1 and 2. Teaser trailer 2 is really cool because it has scenes from the original movie compared with the new one.

This is awesome. They are really paying homage to the original while doing something live action. Just listening to Jolie as Maleficent is spine tingling.

Long before Darth Vader was an idea in a young George Lucas' mind, there was...

Maleficent.

Kudos to Disney, this is going to be great!!

Disney used the Grammys to promote “Maleficent” with a new version of “Once Upon a Dream,” performed by Lana Del Rey.

The song, featured in the end credits of “Maleficent,” bowing May 30, was introduced during a 90-second sneak peek of the movie during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.

Del Rey’s version of the song is available for a limited time, only on Google Play, Google’s online store through Feb. 3.

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville.

“Maleficent” is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Palak Patel, Matt Smith and Sarah Bradshaw serving as executive producers.

Angelina Jolie spreads her wings wide in this new poster for her highly anticipated movie Maleficent.

“I had wings once. And they were strong, but they were stolen from me,” the photo of the wings was captioned.

The poster was revealed on the film’s Twitter account, which was locked shortly before the photo was shared and presumably won’t be opened again until the “curse” is broken.

“But evil has a beginning. Do you want to learn the truth about #Maleficent? Follow NOW before it is too late,” the account tweeted before the curse started.

New 'Maleficent' Trailer Turns Angelina Jolie Into A Beautiful, Winged Beast http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/18/maleficent-trailer_n_4987141.html

The premiere of Disney's hotly anticipated "Maleficent" is still more than two months away, but the excitement is rising at a rapid pace.

A third trailer for the film was released on Tuesday, and it shows a whole new side of Angelina Jolie's title character. In the 2014 iteration of the story, Maleficent is shown to have once been a winged creature, whose flight was "stolen."

The haunting clip makes the film's antihero seem sympathetic for about a second, before reminding us that she's actually quite terrifying. And if Jolie's character somehow doesn't frighten you, her fire-breathing dragon certainly should.

Angelina Jolie to release Maleficent-themed kid's clothing line of 'princess dresses and edgy T-shirts' with Stella McCartneyhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/a...s-dresses-edgy-T-shirts-Stella-McCartney.html

Angelina Jolie is teaming up with Stella McCartney to design a children's clothing line inspired by her upcoming Disney movie Maleficent.

According to WWD, the collection will feature sparkly princess dresses and sandals for girls and 'edgy T-shirts and sneakers' for boys, with prices ranging from $75 to $185.

No doubt the 38-year-old actress had her own children in mind - three of whom will have cameos in the film - when she decided to launch the clothing line, which is aimed at kids aged four to 14.

One adorable look from the line is a purple leopard print dress, modeled by a young girl who pairs it with matching purple horns akin to the ones Ms Jolie dons in the movie trailer.

Another ensemble, this time geared towards boys, includes a white and grey shirt with a drawing of a dragon. It's unclear whether the boy's grey wings and black horns will also be part of the collection.

The clothes will be available in Stella McCartney stores worldwide as well as Disney stores and online at the end of April - a month before the release of the movie on May 30.

This isn't Ms McCartney's first foray into Disney-themed fashion; in 2010, the designer created a jewelry collection for Disney inspired by Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

And in 2009, she featured some characters from Bambi in an ad campaign, including the fawn himself and Thumper the rabbit.

'I've always been a huge fan of Disney growing up, as was my mother, and I grew up watching all the films like most kids did,' explained Ms McCartney.
'When the opportunity presented itself and I was invited by Angelina Jolie to visit the film set, I jumped at the chance.'

Ten per cent of the sales made from the collection will be put towards SOS Children's Villages, a charity that helps provide homes for children in need.
Good cause - horrid clothes. Meh - this film appears to be more about Angelina Jolie's take on Maleficent than "Disney's" Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty - it looks a lot darker than I expected. It will be a blockbuster for sure - but I'll probably pass on it. :thumbsup2

Those aren't the costumes from the movie btw. :lmao:I do think they are ugly, but kids will probably love them. She has kids, she knows. As long as they aren't in the movie, I'm happy.

That's the whole point of a retelling. Do do the story differently. I like that they will pay homage to the original with a number of things including the 3 fairies, but it is going to be new and different. I am surprised how much they are able to make it align with the original. And Jolie! She is absolutely PERFECT as Maleficent. The voice, the look, the horns, the wings! The more I see the more I'm getting excited about this one. Someone online posted a picture of Jolie and the original Maleficent to show how the horns were wrong and I thought when I looked at the picture that Jolie look fantastic and as close as you could get in real life.

The idea of the forest realm against men, a fallen fairy, the wings all look good.

I think it may be a huge blockbuster. The special effects of the forest creatures looks awesome and what a battle! And of course, the most important aspect is the dragon, and that looks better than Smaug!

I can't wait and its going to be BIG! popcorn::
