Making Wishes Come True

You have no idea how me that idea is...

Ok so some more filters, sooner is better than later in the trip and we are starting on the cruise.

I would really love to hear of some more attractions or moments you all think are romantic, i still need more ingredients for my perfect moment :stir:

Glad i could help with your cunning, cunning plan......:rolleyes1

thinking...thinking....:hourglass

hey all,

just wanted to give a bit of a quick update... not sure if this will be happening for this trip, or maybe another trip in the future... this trip will be quite $$ and the cost of obtaining a ring is proving to be more $$$ again than we had anticipated.

everything is still good, we still  each other to bits, but just not sure if it will be happening this trip...

thank you all for your thoughts...

ok... so it turns out that no sleep for a few nights after working hideously long shifts and then having a big important relationship discussion at 5am while walking to the bus to go back to work to start yet another hideously long shift in a high pressure environment...

NOT A SMART IDEA. whodathunkit :confused3

miscommunications, dramas, tears, gnashing of teeth, furious hand gestures, stamping of feet and histrionics all occured. :furious: and that was just on my part. :rotfl:

there needs to be a face-palm emoticon :)

much communicating, grovelling and apologising for my less than perfect mood later...

AND

plans are back on pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

i have been known to actually claw carlo when he wakes me up at times i do not want to be woken.

i am usually at my most sullen & grumpy in the first few hours after waking, and tend to find fault/issue/hidden meanings/conspiracies etc in pretty much every word said to me before i have sufficiently woken up.

there was a lot of 'what do you mean by that, CARLO?!?!?!!? this morning <<- said while staring at him with squinty, accusing eyes.

lol.

he's good to put up with me :)

Just an idea that is worth considering - a friend of mine did it, and I regret not doing it myself.

Their money was really tight around the egagement, and there was no way they were going to be able to afford her dream engagement ring, so she actually found the perfect ring at a jewellers, and got the one with cubic zirconias. It's a gorgeous ring, and now they're slowly saving to one day replace the fakes with the real things.

I think it's a win win situation because no one knows it's not real - except me, but I got the inside scoop :listen:, and when they have more money they can replace it, but it still will look the same.

If I wanted to up the carots on my ring it would change the look of it, and I'm attached to it now so I wouldn't want to do it, but she's got the look of the ring that she wants forever, and nothing will change when they upgrade to real.

hrmm. wow. that's a great idea...

my brother is a jeweller and he would probably know.. but i would also feel better taking a CZ ring on a trip across 4 countries (australia, USA, cayman islands, mexico -- wow, that makes our trip sound better than it really is) rather than a $$$ diamond...

thanks for the suggestion :)

so for those of you interested... we have found 2 rings we are interested in... but i cannot for the life of me make up my mind.

I love the round cut. Gorgeous! I also love the white gold.

I also wouldn't want to know what the ring was but that's just me :rotfl: I'd want the ring to be a surprise. I gave lots of suggestions with mine though, well not directly. I'd leave pictures lying around with a little note, "gee this is gorgeous" :rotfl2: My DH did choose well :rotfl: and paid attention to my little suggestions :rotfl:

Diamonds are a girls best friend! :worship: So Exciting!

lol this is one thing that carlo and i decided we wanted to pick together.

it's the moment and the timing and the method and the actual words that will be a surprise... plus, as i do all the budgeting, pricing etc and i manage all of our accounts, there's no way he'd be able to slip a purchase like this past me :)

i love the round cut, as it's more brilliant.

but i love the emerald cut one as it's a little different/unusual and it's got a lower profile than the round one...

maybe i'll leave the final decision to carlo so it's mystery as to which one i get :)

I love the round one actually i love both but the round one will never date!
I think you should really be in love with your ring its something you wear everyday which one gives you more a buzz looking at it and have you tried them on?

As for picking the rings DH has given me 2 engagement rings and wedding rings, i lost the first and we picked them out together both times and our budget was a lot higher the second time:rotfl2: I did get a vow renewal for the second wedding ring all organised by him

love the round one, wont catch on things ie: stockings etc....less chance to get dislodged....:flower3:

The round one is classic and stunning - no doubt. I love it.

But the rectangle one - wow!!!!! I like that it is a little different from the norm too. I think it would always stand out to yourself and others.

You really can't go wrong here.

On a personal note - I've been dying for a new engagement ring for years. When we got engaged we were saving for our first home and had moved in with my parents so we could save faster. The more i spent on the ring, the longer we were going to have to live with my parents. So I was fairly frugal with my choice because I was the money handler and I didn't want to take too much money from our savings. I think my engagement ring is sweet, but it's not what I wanted at the time.

I would love to get a new ring and have my existing wedding and engagement rings made into a new wedding ring. With that said, I still struggle with spending so much money on myself.

My husband always says but Lisa, if I said you can have 10k for a new ring or 10k for a holiday, you know which one you'd pick :rotfl2::rotfl2:.

Damn that man, he knows me so well - I'd pick the holiday every time :rotfl:.

I like the round cut, but i'm with you Shuttergirl, I would never spend 10k on myself. I also like the cubic zirconia idea. Who would know!! , although I probably couldnt help myself but tell people!:rotfl2:

But better a ring than one of those designer handbags - that, I just dont get - there are too many starving people for people to spend that much money on a handbag. But hey, if you earned it, spend it how you like!

When I got engaged, we were only 20, so obviously had little money to spend on a ring, but I remember quite clearly not liking the big rings as they reminded me of old ladies, so chose something small, now that I am an old lady, I wouldn't mind something bigger. I had my engagement and wedding ring remade a couple of years ago as mine was getting quite worn- I was quite pleased with it - it didnt cost that much, but I only added some small diamonds.

i ran with the idea posted on here about CZ rings.

i stumbled across pages on the interwebs about CZ versus created (man made) diamonds versus natural diamonds.

the two i have linked in the previous pic are created diamonds. similar colour and clarity to a high colour, very very low inclusion natural diamond but at a fraction of the cost.

i too am leaning towards the round. i talked to my brother today about the whole man made diamond vs natural, and as a jeweller he is a purist and offended by the idea of man made. i personally... couldn't give a mickey mouse tail. just like my sister sells really $$$ shoes, and totally turns her nose up at crocs. so... i'm the one in the middle. i actually own crocs. and i think i may soon own a man-made diamond.

i like the idea of being able to upgrade when we get older/wiser/more well off financially. to be honest... i'd rather travel than wear $$$$$$ on my finger. a friend of mine just spent over $15k on a ring that quite frankly looks a. fake and b. hideous. i was like... do you know how much travel i could do with that??

and also... i'm a little bit.. clumsy. i tend to catch jewellery on things like doors and windows and sleeves and handbags and i've been known to walk into walls or fall or in some way damage my jewellery. so this cheaper alternative without compromising on appearance & style... suits me down to the ground :)

here's my new replacement engagement ring
omI9Wl.jpg

bought it duty free in Hawaii..$100
Swarovski.....Goes perfectly with my wedding band:hug:
and DH was happy, as it looks bling but for little CHING! :yay:

and after 23 yrs togeather..........my other ring was getting quite battered..so I'll just save it for the Granddaughters to squabble over....

I think any solitaire diamond (real or not) has a real classic look to it, I saw so close to going down the not real road myself, just because of the $$ such alot to wear on a hand
I ended up with a solitaire princess cut which is beautiful, alot of people comment on it, but I do have to take it off at work in colder weather because i'm so paranoid it's going to come off :scared1:
I had never really thought of rings until we got engaged, my engagement was unexpected (half cut after a night at the casino, my response "are you serious?" :lmao:)
Secrets sshhh have a look, I love their stuff!
