Making use of coffee machine

I honestly don't think a coffee pot gets the water hot enough for any of those suggestions. I have tried coffee pot water for ramen, but it isn't boiling and I can never get the noodles right.....by the time they are soft it is cold.

This thread makes me very glad we stay in condos with kitchens where I am really hoping the coffee pot is used for only coffee!

I've had several flight attendants pass this tip on to me: Hotel room coffee pots make excellent emergency panty washers.

Just some food for thought. Enjoy the hot dogs!

Uggh!!! Why don't they just use the sink?

That is the funniest thing I've read here all day.

I don't drink coffee or use the coffee pot in any way in hotels and I'm definitely never going to now!

My parents were extremely frugal when I was growing up. On the very rare occasion we stayed at a hotel (we usually camped everywhere) we would only stay if they had enough money saved up to also take us somewhere super cheap to eat. I think once we may have had peanut butter sandwiches in the room (not at WDW though).

I haven't seen a maid's cart with a dishwasher. I always wash out the coffee maker before I use it. I try to avoid the non-disposable cups in rooms for the same reason, though I have washed them out when I had to use them.

We have rented condos or rooms with kitchens, I wash everything before I use it because I don't know how well they were cleaned.

This thread reminds me why.
Same here! I always clean the hotel coffee pots before using.

We always travel with our own small coffee pot, cups, coffee, and a small bottle of dish washing soap, even on short weekend trips. Since we drive and don't fly it is not a problem to bring our extra bag that we keep that stuff packed in. DH drinks decaf (unleaded) and i drink leaded so it works for us to have 2 small coffee pots.

Ok. the coffee pot CAN be used to "heat water"
so, if you don't want coffee, , heat up water... for, whatever you want hot water for:
ramein noodles, hot tea, cup of soup. oatmeal
but, sheesh! now that I KNOW people are using the coffee pots to make hot dogs and , .. how do I know.. macaroni and cheese? shheesh! puhleese people!. I do NOT want my tea OR coffee to taste like your last
recipie for "budget casserole"! yuck!

I can understand wanting hot water but actually cooking in the coffee pot is a bit...um...off.

I imagine there are also recipes involving the toilet bowl and using the iron to make toast or a panini. Maybe even holding a magnifying glass in the window to cook the snails that were found out in the grass. Hey, look: Hotel room escargot!

Most hotels have some sort of laundry service. Perhaps the cushions of the couch can be raided to pay for some proper laundry that doesn't involve someone's size 20 granny panties being washed in something I am about to drink out of.
