Making the Credits Work for Us

I have a 30% off room only reservation from Nov 1 - Nov 8 at CBR. There will just be two of us. I have been hesitant to add free dining because it has always been way too much food for us. If we have one TS meal a day we prefer to graze or eat light the rest of the day and not use the CS meals. There are a few options I have been considering but not sure if this is allowed:
1) can we split our 2 CS meals - one at breakfast and one at lunch
OR
2) would we be able to "cash in" our CS credits for snacks. If so does anyone know the amount we would get.

I worked the numbers based on the way we eat vs the FDP and it pretty much comes out even. We have three TS res right now at Boma, Rose & Crown, and Les Chefs de France.

We also have a 3 night res at AoA-LM with no discount. I didn't factor these three nights into the equation. I know it sounds crazy but If it stresses me out because we can't eat the way we want then I would rather not take the FD.

Unfortunately, you would not be able to add the free dining --- you can only use one discount at a time. You will need to calculate your savings with the % off vs the savings with free dining to figure out what is the best for you.

RE: your CS options -- you can use those for any meal you want. I have also known only the resort food courts to allow you to switch out a CS for 3 snack credits.

Just so you know, if you add free dining you will lose that 30% room discount.

Yes.

Used to. This year they've at least made some overtures toward discontinuing it except for assembling a continental breakfast (you can do that, but you can't carry out multiple bags of candy on a CS credit for example). Still, there are recent reports by some who said they were allowed to do so at various resorts. Ask before you assemble the snacks. Used to be 3 snacks per CS credit and you could do this pretty much only at resort CS.

The best solution would be if your 3 night at AoA came first. That way you could add the FD to that portion of your trip since you have no other discount and still keep your room discount on the other one. I'm assuming it's not, but thought I'd make that suggestion just in case you hadn't thought of it.

As to sharing your CS credits, you can do that. It sounds like that might work for you and the way you like to eat.

Thanks for the responses. I am aware that you can't stack discounts - When I ran the numbers it was a toss up as to which was the better deal. I am inclined to keep the room discount instead of FD at this point. We usually don't do a TS meal every day and we have so many events planned that too many TS meals would get in the way. We also want to take advantage of Food & Wine Festival - we have never done that before.

We've split breakfast and lunch meals before. It works really well. The big breakfast platters are always enough for two, as are many of the CS lunch options.
Or, you can have your TS at lunch and split some CS for dinner.

That said, I don't freak out too much if I don't use all of our CS credits. If all the food I planned on eating is paid for...I'm good. I'd have had to pay to eat anyway.
We've started having a CS breakfast the day we leave, which takes care of some CS.

If we still have snack credits left on the last day, I buy shelf stable things to take home. I never leave those unspent!

Add up what you would eat, and if it's more than your room discount, get the fd.

ETA: You could use your TS for 2 crd. signature dinners, and you can use snack credits at F & W.
