Good Day, Fellow Disers and Food Porn Lovers! In June, my soon to be 13 year old daughter and I are taking a mother-daughter trip to Disney. We debated many different times what we would eat while we were there, and added and changed the dining plan until we finally determined that the deluxe dining plan was what we needed.

Even with the DxDP, we are only having 2 meal per day. We have 15 credits--3 for each night. We are doing plenty of Signatures (3 of them) and eating things that we have both tried before and never done.

I will warn you with the title, that what I post today as far as our dining plans go, may not be the final decision. I will have in the second post a working list of ADRs, to change as needed, and this will finally be a table of contents with links to the reservations.

But first, let me introduce you to the eaters:

Photo1223FourBySix.jpg

On the left, you have Sweetie, a 7th grader and avid reader. She loves everything Disney. She is a very nonadventurous eater. She is a meat and potatoes type girl, but also loves seafood.

Sweetie's favorite restaurants at Disney:
CS Location: Cosmic Ray's
Snack location: Starring Rolls
Breakfast TS: Crystal Palace
Lunch TS: Mama Melrose's
Dinner TS: Cape May Cafe

On the right is me, Amanda, a special education teacher of 16 years. I've recently been moved to the district office level. I also love everything Disney and am a very adventurous eater (unless the neighbor brings food that required the use of a gun on a small rodent) I also love seafood, and have recently discovered that I like sushi. And I don't like California rolls. The rarer the fish, the better!

My favorite locations at Disney:
CS Location: Flame Tree BBQ
Snack Location: Starring Rolls
Breakfast TS: Boma (ties with CP)
Lunch TS: Coral Reef
Dinner TS: Narcoossee's (ties with Flying Fish)

So, welcome all of you! I hope you all enjoy, and if you have suggestions or pictures you want to share, Please DO!

As of today, these are our dining plans. We certainly will be making changes. We have 74 days to go, and I doubt we will stick with these forever!
May 31, 2012

We are checking into POP Century for just one night, here and there are a couple of things swimming in my head, but I think this is the prevailing idea:

Beaches and CreamOddly, even though we stayed at the Beach Club last year, we never stopped by. We intended to step in and get the kitchen sink, but we just didn't. Not that we ran out of time--in 11 days you just can't do that. We just didn't have it way on our radar. The plan is to split a burger and fries and to split a Sundae here.

June 1, 2012

Breakfast: Cafe Rix at Coronado Springs: We have to check and make sure our dining credits work, don't we? We'll pick up our refillable mugs and grab a few pastries to eat on our way to the Magic Kingdom after I park my truck. I doubt the room will be ready--we just can't get that lucky two years in a row, but that's all right!

Lunch: Crystal Palace: This is actually a late breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace. CP is a favorite. Usually it's the last reservation we family members have together, but we want to start with it this time.

Dinner: Narcoossee's: Can you say, "Surf and Turf"? I love Narcoossee's. It was one of may favorites from December 2009!

June 2, 2012

Breakfast: Main Street Bakery: We'll pick up pastries the night before and refill our mugs.

Lunch: Akershus:This is the latest breakfast reservation--11:00. We love this meal, but have not been since 2008. The potatoes are awesome, and the character interaction great. I know Sweetie is 13, but she still likes the princesses.

Dinner: Fulton's Crab House:I am a definite seafood lover. When this place appeared on the dining plan, I was so excited!

June 3, 2012

Breakfast: Boma: Sweetie has not done this one, but it is, in my opinion, the best breakfast buffet on property. I also have been here and I was quickly finished--in plenty of time to drive over to Animal Kingdom. This will be one of the few times we drive to the parks.

Lunch: Kusafiri in Animal Kingdom: I've been eyeing the cupcakes here for some time. We'll use snack credits to have cupcakes for lunch (yes, you read that right)

Dinner: California Grill: I've added and deleted this reservation over and over throughout the years, but with it just being myself and Sweetie, I think it will stay this time around. We are unsure of the choices for our nonadventurous eater, but I understand them to be very accommodating, and think we can pull something together. Sweetie is thinking flatbread app, the filet (hopefully she can sub fries or regular mashed potatoes), and cake. I'm thinking tuna three ways, bison, and something light for desert.

June 4, 2012

Breakfast: Cafe Rixagain, snack credits for pastries along with the use of the mugs

Lunch: Yak and YetiTHis is an add-on recently, and although Sweetie is not greatly adventurous, a friend recommended this one. We can try it once, since there's not much choice in Animal Kingdom

Dinner: Cape May Cafe: Sweetie's absolute favorite. No danger here. Great Location, as well.

June 5, 2012

Breakfast: Starring Rolls:Yes, cupcakes for breakfast, too. Why not?!?

Lunch: Teppan Edo: We have no Hibachi-style grills where we live, so this became a family favorite last year (bad jokes included). We're excited about this one!

Dinner: Chefs de France This is a choice that at one time, I wouldn't think of. I had a bad experience, but I gave them another try. We've been there ever since. This reservation is for an Extra Magic Hour, and after the fireworks. I know this is late, and we may not get many rides in, but it's an exciting thought for us to be some of the last in Epcot.

June 6, 2012 (Last day :( )

Breakfast: Starring Rolls: Again, cupcakes for breakfast!

Lunch: Mama Melrose's: This restaurant often gets a bad rap, but we have had nothing but good experiences here. There aren't many choices in Hollywood Studios. The Brown Derby, in my opinion, is not worth two credits, Hollywood and Vine was horrible when we went, Sci Fi doesn't interest us, and we don't like the idea of the antics at 50s Prime Time

Dinner: Kona Cafe: A trip of opposites--this is usually our first meal. So we switch CP and Kona. We love this restaurant, especially the low key nature of it.

joining in - I am interested to see where you end up eating. We had the Deluxe plan as well and I have changed my mind so many times already!

Boma was one that I wanted to add into our mix, but I wasn't sure about the transportation factor. We are staying at POFQ.

Joining in! popcorn:: Can't wait to see where you actually end up eating!

:welcome: So glad you are here! And I have a confession: I am trying to see how I can fit Flying Fish in.

:welcome: It is interesting to get to Boma. I've only ever driven there. But breakfast there is served until 10:50 and it's a quick trip from Animal Kingdom over there. We went from AK to AKL for lunch at Mara one day, and the transportation was good.

Ooohh...yummy! I'd really like to eat there one day! Yes, work that in please so you can tell me what you think!

LOL, as it happens, I have been there before! But I did work it in, I'll explain that later.

But this is my review--copied and pasted--from my Dec 2009 trip to Flying Fish:

As I got over to the Boardwalk, I realized I was really early. And really tired. Part of me would have liked to just go back to the room, but I walked around the Boardwalk for a while, finally stopping early at the Flying Fish to rest for a moment.

IMG_0405.jpg

I wasn't worried about being seated. I wanted to rest.

Unlike the staff at Yacthsman, however, they did not want me to wait, and so they asked me if I would mind sitting at the chef's bar.

Uhm, no! Of course, I expected Gordon Ramsay to be back there dropping some choice words.

Instead, I saw this from my table:

The decor of the restaurant:

IMG_0428.jpg

Watching this was an enjoyable experience that I will never forget!

For my appetizer, I had

Our Signature Flying Fish Cafe "Crispy Maine Coast Jonah Crab Cake" - savory vegetable slaw, roasted red pepper coulis, ancho chili remoulade $16.00

IMG_0426.jpg

Okay, seriously, don't tell them at Narcoossee's, but this was the best crab cake ever! The roasted red pepper and remoulade gave it a slight kick that being from the South, I found delightful! I've always said that we should use more of the spices in our cabinets. This was simply heavenly!

For my entre--Oak-grilled Maine Diver Scallops -- pumpkin, sage, mascarpone and pecorino-laced risotto di carnarolli, proscuitto di parma cracklins $34.00

IMG_0429.jpg

I am hard to please when it comes to scallops, living near Myrtle Beach and eating my fair shre of them. These were cooked perfectly, and the risotto was the best I have ever had.

By the time dessert came around, I wanted something really light. I had had that big sandwich and the school bread that day. I decided on the Trio of House-made Sorbets - lychee, raspberry and mango-orange with fresh berries and vanilla cookies $7.00. I had all along planned on the apple tart, but when it came to the end of the meal, I wanted something that did not weight like a ton of bricks.

IMG_0430.jpg

Just what I wanted! It was light, refreshing, and would be something I'd really want during the summer months!

My servier there was really good. He did have a large party behind me and they took a great deal of his time. Had I been at a table, I would have probably been a little restless, but as it was, I was at the chef's table being thoroughly entertained.

But next time I'm there, I'm getting the New York Strip.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5
Service: 4 out of 5
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.75 out of 5

Would I return here? Certainly!

Thank you for posting that review you had done of Flying Fish. The food sounds & looks absolutely delicious! I love seafood, especially crab cakes, so I think I would highly enjoy this place. Definitely going on my must-do list! :thumbsup2

It really should go on your to-do list! It is so Yummy!

Thinking of dinner at Flying Fish made me decide on booking a reservation.

So. . .Chefs is gone.

I had to remove a credit somewhere, so Yak and Yeti is, too. We will pay out of pocket at Flame Tree BBQ that day.

I decided after looking at some reviews of 50s prime time to try it, but I still am not quite pleased with that choice. I may end up with Captain's Grill. I do love that place so much . . .

I enjoyed your last DR and am really looking forward to this one! You and DD are so cute. The pic in front of the castle at night is gorgeous!

Sounds like some good changes! I am definitely going to try Flying Fish one day. We love Flame Tree BBQ!

I may have to take Chefs off of my list, too. I have to rework ADRs today. Actually, I think I'm going to end up having to choose between Chefs & Via Napoli.

We like 50's but I've also heard good things about the Captain's Grill.

LOL, after looking at the menus, Sweetie decided she didn't like the looks of Flying Fish. So I didn't replace with a Signature. I did something really fun!

I probably titled this well.

I have a few more changes:

June 5, 2012

June 6, 2012
Lunch: 50's Prime Time Cafe
Dinner: Kona Cafe

Early breakfast at Ohana. We'll keep looking for a Chef Mickey's, with the likelihood at us getting a reservation better at 45 days out, but we also like Ohana for breakfast. Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Dinner here is a regular for our family, but I keep reading good things about lunch, and it has mozzarella sticks, which Sweetie loves

Snack Credit Locations:
Cafe Rix, Starring Rolls, Main Street Bakery, Sunshine Seasons, Boulangerie, Kusafiri, among others

So, there you have it. Before long, I'll start talking about the menus! In fact, up next:

Puffed French Toast: The Breakfast of Champions.

Love your changes!

And I can't wait to hear about the Puffed French Toast since we've never eaten at Crystal Palace! :goodvibes

So before we go into our regularly scheduled dining report, I have some changes to talk about. First of all, to explain the changes, I would have to explain why we did the changes.

Okay, so, what happened was. . . .

(You know, that is a common phrase for the kids at the school I teach. And you can guarantee that if they start with that line, they are about to tell you a lie)

I can't lie, though. I just like changing my mind. Plus, since Test Track will be down, there is no need to spend more than one morning at Epcot. So, we rearranged our meals a bit.

So, onto Puffed French Toast!

Crystal Palace is my favorite breakfast reservation on the list. I love the place. I love the characters. I love the fact that there is always great fresh fruit on the bar.

I love the puffed french toast.

It's an item one finds on the "Pooh's Corner" section. You know, the area on the buffet for little kids. I don't know how they make it, don't want to know, but I suspect that the toast is deep fat fried and dipped in sugar an cinnamon. My arteries are clogging just thinking of it.

You see people rave about the puffed french toast all the time here on the Dis and they are right to do so.

I moved this meal to the end of my trip, because I love the place so much. And I'm glad I did. It will be one of my last memories of Disney for this trip.

I think your plan sounds great. I don't blame for only doing 1 morning at Epcot since TT will be down. I'm really hoping it's back up by the time we get there.

Puffed French Toast.....sounds......:cloud9:

That french toast is awesome! I see pictures of it all the time here.
