Making T-shirts - help for the clueless...me!

I want to make Nightmare Before Christmas t-shirts from this clipart site http://retrogoth.50megs.com/ for MNSSHP and my dd requested black t-shirts. The lady at Michael's said the transfer sheets will never work on black tees. I've seen all your beautiful designs on colored shirts, how do you do it? I have never done this, so I'm really clueless... help!

There is transfer paper specially made for dark shirts, Just make sure that you get that kind and you should be fine.
