I'm planning on making T-shirts for an upcoming Bachelorette cruise for my sister. Since it's a cruise we're doing a pirate theme. pirate:

We have black shirts and wanted to print a hot pink design on them. Do I need to use T-shirt transfer paper for dark T-shirts? I'm concerned that there will be too much white background that I'll need to get rid of. Can I use regular light T-shirt transfer paper on black shirts, or will that not make the design bright enough?

Thanks for the help!

You will need to use a dark transfer, and if you do not want the white to show, you will need to cut carefully (possibly with an exacto knife). Using a light transfer on a dark shirt leaves a haze where there is nothing printed on the transfer and dulls your design since the shirt color shows through some. Here is a shirt I did with a light transfer on a hot pink shirt. See the haze? Cute shirt, but not my fave bc of the haze. :) Hope that helps!

Oh -- here's one where I used a dark transfer and cut very very carefully and used and exacto knife some. See how much nicer it looks? :cutie:
