Making somebody else's Disney Magic ...

OK, I know this is a WDW board, but I have only gone there once...and my story happaned in DLR...I hope that is OK.

I was sitting in Tomorrow Land Terrace waiting for the start of Jedi Academy. Both of my young boys were picked. I saw a young girl, probably 9 years old, picked for Jedi Academy. Her younger brother, however, was not picked. The younger brother was around 5 or 6 years old and was soooo verrrry sad. The parents convinced her to give up her spot for her little brother. She obeyed, but you could tell that she was very sad about it. :sad1:

After the show, I saw her standing, watching her brother all excited and telling his parents about the event. She looked so sad and it just made me feel so bad. So, I don't know what made me do it (normally I am a very shy person, except on the DIS boards ;)), but I walked up to all of them and said that I saw what she did for her little brother and I thought that was the kindest and most unselfish thing I ever saw.

I happaned to have a bunch of pins we had bought for friends and families to take home as gifts and I let her pick one of the tinkerbell pins. She was so excited to get a pin (she had one of those travel package lanyards with just one pin on it). Her mom's eyes just teared up. I was so glad to reward her for her unselfish behavior and it made me feel so good. :goodvibes

This thread is just wonderful. I'm glad to read about so many people going out of their way to extend kindness to others. I don't have a story to share, but I wanted you all to know that reading about your selfless gestures fills me with warmth and leaves me inspired.

Is it still possible to bump this topic back up? I would love to keep going!:cool1:

I'm so glad you have kept this thread going. I've been loving all the stories!! My kids are looking forward to sharing their glow stuff, tattoos and packaged goodies when we visit. They are getting a little old for all that themselves, but I knew they would love sharing, so I bought tons!

For the "trash picker," I just wanted to add: Do you think it's possible that the park was cleaner years ago because there were more people like you doing their part to keep things neat?? Maybe it's not that Disney's staff is doing less to keep things clean, but that we all are?? Now, my family always picks up after ourselves; BUT you've inspired me, so when I go in June, I'll be sure to pick up after others too.

Thanks everyone for your stories! These are so heartwarming and much more fun to read than the "I hate ______ " threads.

:cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:

popcorn:: Keep them coming!!

of being at Disney is being someone who tries to help others when they have questions, or lets a child stand in front for the parade, or offers to take a photo so everyone can be in the shot, or offers a seat at our table. It is so much fun to see the happiness and surprise it brings. That is the real magic--and it always comes back.

I have found that other guests can be funny, warm, helpful, kind, and generous when you would never expect it!!! :goodvibes

lol. not often, but I have been there a few times. Mine is a pretty common face. My name is Patrick, if that helps.

I'm the lady behind the jewelry counter and I've been there a very long time, It just seems like you are so familiar maybe it's just the same love of Disney. My name is Tammy next time you are in stop by and say HI!!!!!!

I've loved reading all of these stories.:lovestruc

When my husband and I went solo to WDW last February, I offered to take pictures so a whole family could be in it. Mostly everyone was happy to have me do it, but I had a few that looked at me funny. That's ok...I felt good doing it because I know what it's like to have pictures where someone is missing, lol. There are 7 of us, and it's hard to get a picture of ALL of us at once!

When we were there with our kids for the first time, we were getting fastpasses for TSMM. Something was wrong with the fastpass machines and a CM was handing them out. He handed me mine and my teenager and I walked back towards One Man's Dream to wait for my DH. I started counting them and found out that he'd given us 11 fastpasses...I only needed 6. Instead of keeping them, I had my teenager scope out a family of 5 to give them to that were heading towards TSMM. He found one right away and handed them over. They were THRILLED. :yay:

That same trip we had ordered two different cakes at two different restaurants to celebrate our teen's birthday and my dh's birthday. Even with 7 of us, we barely ate a half of a cake. At 1900 Park Fare, we shared with the tables around us..everyone had a blast sharing with us. At Cape May Cafe, we gave the half of a cake to a trio of older ladies that had joined in with singing happy birthday to dh...they were so happy to accept it!

I'd like to think I helped a young British girl on her first ride on TOT this past November. We were all riding in the front row and she was next to me with her dad on the other side. I started talking to her when I saw she looked a little scared, and I asked her age and told her my dd had ridden at 4 and LOVED it. She and her father were laughing and screaming the whole ride and at the end, I heard her say to her father how much she loved it and wanted to do it again.

Last year our family was chosen to be family of the day. Because of this we were allowed in the park before it opened to the public. Wanting to teach our children how to pay it forward, my husband went to the disney gift shop and bought a bunch of autograph books and pens. Then the girls handed them out to kids who were waiting at the gate to enter the park. My daughter had a blast making somebody else's day a bit magical.

:) I always bring decorations or posters to put up in our window at the hotel. We were there a couple of years ago and I brought a Princess poster, Jack Sparrow poster and some gels for the windo to spruce it up. At the end we gave the Princesses to our Mousekeeper. I then bundled Jack up and found a precious 6 year old boy in the lobby line checking in. I asked him if he liked Jack and winked at his Mom. He was very pleased with his decorations. We do not have children so I have given glow bracelets out to kids before MVMCP.

I don't know if this counts. We were at The Lion King on Broadway and gave our leftover subway passes to a cute couple next to us.

My wife and I were in line with my sister's family to all buy tickets into the park. Well actually my sister just needed to activate their annual passes - and a couple came up to my wife and I and said that they were having dinner at Club 33 and didn't need their tickets - apparently they had two one day one park passes for DLR and they say Club 33 on the back (just printed nothing super special). That saved us $140 that really made a big difference for our family (to us that was a very big deal).

I feel that many Disney fans are the same way - just very good people..

Whoever you are - thank you very much and I hope my family can do that both at parks and in the real world when we have the opportunity (large or small).

"My kiddo said "Mom!!! Look!!! It's the princesses!!!" and then she said to the little girls "Wow! I came here to eat with the princesses, I didn't know I'd meet Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle out here!!! You're all soooo pretty!!". The little girls got really excited and ran to their parents saying "They really think I'm (interject Princess name)!!!!!"

:thumbsup2 What you have there is not only a nice kid, but apparently a budding stud. Smooth, kid. Smoooooooth.;)

I know what you mean. That is the whole Disney Magic thing in a nutshell. It's just so strange how people you have never met suddenly feel so kind toward you are DW. I mean, strange in a good way. It's really cool.:wizard:

I have found that kind of goodwill DOES extend beyound DW. But the parks just kind of magnify the goodwill. It's like another ride to me. I just get such a high out of being helpful. And I am sure it's what everybody else who has posted is talking about.

OUTSTANDING!! What a wonderful thing to do. And how cool to be chosen Family of the Day. Great for you!:cool1:

Well, it seems this thread is coming to an end, and that's cool. It's generated far more magic than I had ever anticipated, and I want to thank everybody who posted.

Like all the rest of you, I feel so strongly about giving back at Disney World that your responses and stories and inspired me to try to do even more.

I wish everybody well and hope you all have MAGICAL days, weeks and months ahead!:cool1:

Had to revive the thread ;) I've always done small things like taking pictures for families, pointing out if something falls or if someone leaves something behind running after them. I also love to get stickers from the CM and give them to kids and ever since I got into pin trading years back I constantly give pins to kids that I see are celebrating or are just sharing that Disney Magic with their siblings and just being utterly wonderful. The parents are always soooo grateful and surprised and the kids are just ecstatic with their pins. I also share parade seats with kids so they can see or squish a little closer to the family to make room for another. It always feels absolutely amazing to share some of that Disney Magic. Chasing people down to give them extra fast passes is hilarious my husband cracks up because people look at me like I have 8 heads. :thumbsup2

Going to POFQ in May and we'll be arriving too late for any park visits so our first full day in the parks will start with a character breakfast at CP. My son loves Pooh and Tigger so he'll get a big kick out of being there (he's been before but he was only 30 months old so he doesn't remember much).

My lucky missus will be getting some gifts from the Disney Florist to celebrate her second Mother's Day of the year.

I find myself giving a lot of people directions and information. It makes me feel good to share my knowledge and help someone find something or plan something a little bit easier. The time that I remember giving directions from our last trip was a couple asking the lady at the front of Splash Mountain how to get to the Haunted Mansion. I think the poor girl was pretty new because she looked so confused and was trying so hard to remember for them. My husband and I pointed them in the right direction and they went on their way.

I also had a nice chat with an older woman last December. I was sitting on a bench near ToT/RnRC waiting for my husband to come out of the restroom. This woman sat beside me as she waited on her husband and we began a conversation about how our trips had been. She said they were there scouting the place out because they plan to bring their to be 5 years old grandson in 2010 and wanted to get an idea of what there was for him to do there and all. We got talking about hotels and after I told her where we were staying (POR), she told me that they were really pleased with their hotel and that it even had a lazy river with the swimming pool. I got excited and said, "Oh! You must be staying at the Yacht and Beach Club! We just had breakfast there this morning!" She looked at me funny and told me that no, they were staying at a property offsite (can't remember the name) because the Disney stuff was ridiculous - "even the cheapest room at Disney is over $1,000 per night! We can't afford that!" My jaw dropped and I asked her where she had heard that. She told me that's what they had told her that at their hotel. I can't believe they told them that flat out lie and I explained to her how the Disney hotel categories work, how they run specials, all the perks of staying onsite. She seemed really intrigued, told me she was going to research when she got home, and thanked me for telling her about all of it. Whereever they end up staying when they bring their grandson this year, I hope their trip is a little bit more magical because of the information. :)

the last time we were there in june our car was beside a car with a 4some.
2 older men and their wives.one of the men ask our permition? to give dd someting and it was a 2 dollar bill.he said he allways brought a few with him and him and his wife give them out during their trips.be cool to start a tradition like this for your trips.WITH parents permition of coarse.

On our last Disney vacation my 2 "princesses" 11 and 7 really wanted to have breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, so for an extra surprise I ordered 2 white chocolate slippers for them. When we checked in my DH made sure they were ready and let them know when to bring them out, I wanted them to eat some real food first! At the little table next to us was a super cute little girl about 4 yrs. old that my DD's were talking to and playing with, it was so cute, anyway, when the slippers came out my DD's were so excited and surprised they hadn't seen them before and were thrilled! Then they both looked at each other and smiled and said "Mom, these are amazing, thank you--but they are HUGE would it be ok if we could give one to her?" As my eyes filled with tears I said, Sure, and together they carried one of the slippers over the family and wished them a "magical day!" The other mother just said thank you thank you!! The little princess just giggled and smiled the biggest smile I have ever seen! They still talk about how yummy and beautiful that little dessert was.
