Making reservations

Anyone else notice this...

I go into Disney's website and pretend I'm making a reservation so I can click on the calendar for my dates. To see if I can start making reservations. We are arriving 11-3-12. Based on the calendar. I can reserve for 11-3-12 on April 27th. Then I click that I have a dining plan, proceed with signing on and putting my confirmation #. I click on the calendar and I have to wait 12 more days to start my reservations. Why is that? Do I need to put a deposit down on the reservations? I know some places you need to pay in full (ex: CRT). I don't know that I want the hassle of paying up front then try to get credit because I am on the dining plan. Can you tell I'm excited!! I just really want to be able to reserve CRT for my daughter's birthday. Everything else...if I get them great, if not, that's okay too.

Thanks,
Maria

I also came up with May 7 for your 180 date using the calculator on this site.

To make the reservation at CRT you will not have to pay if you link your dining plan to the res. On the CRT reservation page there's a blue link that says something to the effect of "I want to use my dining plan to pre-pay for this reservation." You'll have to click on that link and put in your res number. On the page that gives you the total amount to pay there should be no charge. If a monetary total shows up it would probably be better to call and make the res with a CM. Even with the dining plan, however, you will have to give your credit card info for the cancellation/no show penalty.

Besides CRT, the dinner shows require full payment or a link to your dining plan at the time you make the reservation. For all of the restaurants with character meals and signature restaurants you will have to give the cc info for the cancellation/no show penalty, but there is no deposit required.

Thank you everyone. I just thought it was weird how the dates are open on the Disney site but once I click I want to use the dining plan the dates were grayed out. For example, yesterday all the dates up to November 1st were open. Once I clicked on the dining plan it was grayed out. I have May 7th marked on my calendar now :)
