Making reservations for multiple confirmation numbers?

I'm brand new to these boards, planning my kids' first whirlwind drip to WDW. We can make our ADR this weekend. My problem is, we have three confirmation numbers to book dining for---my family's, my parents', and my in-laws'.

What's the best way to go about booking reservations with three different confirmation numbers, so we'll all be able to sit together? We're all on a dining plan.

If you're planning meals that everyone will be at, just use your own. The ADRs are not tied to the resort confirmation at all. The only times the resort confirmation comes into play are:

• Attempting to book a meal greater than 180 days out: The resort confirmation number here solely checks to see if you have one, and what the check-in date is. This allows you to use the 180+10 perk to book those extra days.
• Specifying that you are using DDP on any of the DDP-covered prepaid events (CRT, HDDR, etc): Here, the resort confirmation will check if you have an applicable dining plan attached to said reservation. If so, the full prepayment will be a cc-guarantee for the full amount instead.

Outside of those two cases, the resort confirmation number doesn't matter, and more specifically, it never checks (or cares about) the number of guests attached vs the number of guests the ADR is being made for.

Now, if your parents and/or in-laws are planning on doing some meals on their own, they'll have to book those themselves via their WDW site logins, or you will have to call. The system will force you to choose to either cancel an existing ADR to make a new one, or not make the new one if they too close together.

You'll still likely be fine, since the number of people on the Resort Reservation does not tie in with the number of people for the ADR. Simply plop down how many will be there, and make them under your name . The resort confirmation number is only used to check eligibility for 180+10 and if there's an applicable dining plan there. The size of the party does not matter.

Now, watch CRT/HDDR/whatever closely when you book, if it says anything other than $0.00 for the "Amount Due Today", cancel out of that and call, otherwise you're going to be charged that amount right then and there.

But, you'll be fine making them for 8 (or whatever number it is) even if your family is only 4 (or whatever number it is).

I have a similar situation. I will be going with another family of 4 and was concerned that the majority of the restaurants will not allow you to make a reservation for 8. I would imagine it would be much harder to get a reservation this way also.

Getting a reservation for 8 may be a bit trickier than for 4, for sure. But that's pretty understandable.

Beyond that though, they cannot limit reservations to the number of resort guests, or they'd be blocking off all off-site, all locals, and all mixed groups (e.g. the OP's). So don't worry about them even thinking of doing that, they'd be losing out on a lot of money if they did (and we all know, they like their money!). Even the raw # (not taking resort reservations into account) is capped pretty darn high (if there is one). We often see people on these boards with groups of 12, 16, 18, 25, etc.

Well this year making dining reservations for a large group is a real mess. I had no problem with anything under 10 people but trying to book larger than that at certain places was impossible. I tried to book 22 people at via Napoli for nov and was told to call restaurant. The person who answered said we don't take reservations now call back in july. All possible seats will be gone long before that. I called liberty tree and was told to leave a message and someone would get back to me..over two days ago and nothing. Out of desperation i tried booking multiple reservations of 10 to 12 people and was successful getting the times but then told i had duplicate reservations and they cancelled the first one. In the past with the grand gathering # someone would help you but not anymore. So good luck. I spend hours online and on the phone and i still can't get a reservation for Thanksgiving day with 22 people. I did get a partial at 1900 park faire but I really don't want to go there. I may have to try the Swan or dolphin and go off dining plan that day because all the good places at disney seem to be booked before 8PM and after that the patriots are playing and no one will sit at dinner and miss that LOL
