Finally booked our family trip and we are just getting started with dining plans--I was so looking forward to using the online reservations, but see that you can only do parties up to 10. Do you suggest I try and make 2 reservations--a 6 and a 5, call the reservations phone line or go through grand gatherings? I know we'll be spilt into 2 groups, but if I make the reservations seperately, will we still be seated near each other? Thanks in advance!!

We also have 11 in our party for Oct. I called the ressies in using Grand Gathering option. We also had 11 in our party 2 yrs ago..also called. We got to be seated together at all our ADRs.

There is no way to really know if you will be seated close to each other.

The best thing is to call Grand Gathering, they are equiped to handle larger parties and know it is important for everyone to be together.

Disney cant gurantee they will seat you all together but they will try. I would call when they open each day, and remind them of your request and show up an hour before your reservation time. This will make your odds greater.

We used Grand Gathering in February for 18 people at Coral Reef for dinner on a Saturday night about 7pm. They arranged it so the tables were adjacent to each other.

This 'Grand Gathering' you speak of? Is there a cost involved? How does it work? We are traveling in Dec 2010 w/a party of 13. I've already booked all of our ADRs...is it too late to use this? TIA for any info.

I did all of mine for a party of 11 through the regular dining phone number.

Well, here's my experience in April for a party of 12. I called regular dining to see which ones they could do (vs. being transferred to group dining), and they said they could do all. So I started going through my choices in order of importance, and out of 4 I could only get 1 first choice, and 1 second choice! So later I went online and starting looking at smaller groups, and I was able to get what I wanted by splitting the families up (7 and 5). I figure we will just ask to be seated near each other, but if it doesn't happen, no worries.

I have 2 reservation numbers because we have 2 villas, so I booked one family under one and the other family under the other, so that Disney would not think I had booked it twice in error or something and delete one of them. That's also why I didn't split it in half 6 and 6 - I wanted the reservations to look different in every way. But I got approx the same times for both, and we will arrive together and ask to be seated near each other if possible. Or, we might ask in advance at the actual restaurant e.g. we have breakfast at Tusker one day, but we're going back there for lunch - we will tell them at breakfast that we're coming back for lunch, and that we want to be together so that they know how to set up the tables later. If you're eating in park sometime after arrival (i.e. late breakfast, lunch or dinner), it might be worth doing the same. Or, if you can get the actual restaurant number, maybe you could call in advance.
