I always make payments on my room only reservation. You can call the reservations number or you can send it by mail. If you want to do it by mail you will have to call and find out the address of where to send your payments.
I always make payments. The bill doesn't 'hurt' as bad!! On my 2 week reservation at a FW cabin, I only have $800 left!! What I like to do is whenever I NEED a Disney fix, I call and make a payment. Might sound silly, but when you get a real chatty CM (you know the kind I mean!!), it brings some magic home.
I just paid off two room for June last Saturday. Simply called and used my CC. I always pay off my rooms over a month in advance because then I get the Disney Visa rewards before I go on the trip. It is kind of like getting a little extra discount on the room. I know it is only 1%, but every little bit helps and it is so neat to have a card in hand with a couple of hundred bucks on it to use anywhere at WDW.
I to always pay my room off before the trip. I mail mine in. When you receive your room confirmation in the mail, there is an address on back that you can mail the payments to.
Yes I always do that. I make my room only res about a year out and divide up the payments so that it's paid before we get there. I either put it on DIsney Visa (reward dollars) or AE (If we're trying to use points for airfare that year). I doesn't hurt as much when you spread the payments out.
I make payments once a month. That way it is usually paid when I get there or really darn close. I don't take the monthly payments out of my disney budget money so it gives me more spending money down there.
I always pay off our room only ressie before we go. This year i call weekly and make a payment using my check card-- a very painless way to pay and it comes right out of the checking account. You would certainly get your money back if you had to cancel.
I am currently paying $100 a month towards my ressie. I plan to not only pay off the total, but to have a credit in my favor when I check in to cover food and souveniers during our trip. I think it will be cool to spend a week at WDW, then check out with a bill under $1000. Yea I know I will still pay for the entire trip, but spreading it out just doesn't hurt so much on the ol wallet.
I still haven't gotten my written confirmation of my reservation. It was made about 3 weeks ago. The credit card has been charged and I already have the bill with the charges on it. How long will it take for me to get written confirmation?

It should take no later than a week and a half. I modifed our reservation last Saturday (4/23) and received the updated confirmation via mail today. I would call back and request that they send you the confirmation. My original confirmation didn't come for almost 2 months and I had to call back to have them send it.
Also, you can check your ressie by going to www.disneyworld.com and clicking on the my vacation link. You will have to register with the site, but then you can type in your conf # and the phone # you used on the ressie. You can view the ressie that way, but keep in mind this part of their site is the beta (trial) version, so there may be errors. You can always call CRO to make sure the ressie is there.
