Making my Reservation in 9 Days...

...and I want to make sure I have this right.

I *want* a 1BR at HHI for 5 weeknights in April (135 points)...
...but I think that only 2BR's will be available.

If only 2BR's are available, then I will book a 2BR for 4 weeknights (132 points) and I already have the 5th night booked on cash.

I will be using 46 current (2011) points and borrowing the remainder from 2012. So, if I can only book the 2BR, would I be OK to waitlist for the 1BR? Since the 1BR would require more points, I would not have to worry about "losing" any borrowed points, correct? If the waitlist came through, I would cancel my cash reservation for the one night in the 2BR. Is it 5 or 7 days in advance that you have to cancel a cash reservation?

I have to call next Friday to make the reservation.

Ok, I reread, if you get the one bedroom for 5 nights, and it requires more points than a 2 bedroom for 4 nights, then no you won't have to worry about any points being in jeopardy. If you cancel the borrowed points stay in the use year you borrowed into and you would have to use them during that year.

Cash reservations at Disney World are 5 days prior, I would guess HHI is the same but you might to verify that. I have never used a cash reservation there, only points.

I really don't plan on cancelling, but since we have a Feb UY and we are travelling in April, I will have plenty of time to reschedule if the need arises.

That's exactly what I am afraid of. We only have 100 points so it is a big enough stretch to get a 1BR.

The two bedroom vacation homes are absolutely awesome. If you end up with that you will be very pleased so do not worry.

congrats! Glad it worked out for you! We will be (hopefully) be visiting HHI in June- trying for the week of the 5th right as the kids get out of school....can't book till November. I have stayed in HHI a few times but this is the 1st time as DVC and am looking forward to the laid back, relaxing environment...
