Making my first reservations

O.K. I'm going to make my first reservations for my first DVC trip in July 2011 . My guide is supposed to call me and go through the whole process with me. Now here is the thing I am hoping to get a THV which I would guess could be difficult, does a guide have any influence in getting a specific type of accommodations?

Also if I have any preferences (like near pool) is this when I should request it?

I am so excited to get there, I have such a long wait. I'm so impatient. Thats why I live on the DIS, it does help.

Reservations for July, 2011 are being made now, 11 months from the arrival date (today, members can reserve up to 7 nights at the their home resort for stays beginning on July 12, 2011 or earlier - based on availability. Just call MS and let the rep know the dates, resort, villa type (THV). Once the dates have been secured, you can then add any requests - like near a pool.

You should be fine for a THV even without your guide if you call right at 11 months, but it can't hurt to ask them to assist with some Disney *magic* for your first stay.

when in July if before the 12th - then you can make it now.

after the 12th you have to wait.

it is not hard

on your blue membership card is the 1-800 for member services - just call the phone number

think the option are listen then 1, after a while 1 - again

you only want disney vacation club - not the other stuff.

then you will need to tell your member number (blue card) and the last 4 digit of your SSN and/or your address

then you can make the reservation.

MS is pretty good they will probably tell you more than you want too.

when you get someone on the phone - tell them you are new.

Thank you, I will be booking for July 16Th so I have to wait until Monday. So after I book my stay which will be a week, while I still have them on the phone is that when I make my request? Or do I have to add that later?(closer to arrival)

You can put in the request when you make the reservation.

The first thing to do is never again use the word "resi." It's even worse than "ressie"; something that I didn't think could be achieved. If you use that word on the phone with MS, they'll quietly delete 5 points from your account. It's true.

You can definitely tell you are new at this if those 5 points are not important, lol. My wife and I cherish each and every one of them

The five points are very important we have a minimum point contract so every point counts, even the ones we have not gotten yet.
