I saw a thread about threading beads onto a necklace for the kids that has the parent's cell phone number on it. If the child gets lost, they are told simply to show the necklace to a CM. I like the idea a lot, but where do I find these bins of beads to do it??

Thanks. :flower:

I used a pet tag and engraved our cel numbers on it...you can do one just about anywhere. It is light weight and can get wet. We actually did ours at the pet store at DDT so it is Mickey ears and our DD loves it.

I have also used a pet tag in the past.

You can probably find letter/number beads at any craft store (JoAnne Fabrics, Michaels).

I like the idea too but for my kids (3 and almost 2) I wanted to steer clear of the necklace (just in case it gets stuck on something on one of the playgrounds). SO- instead I laminated nametags with all pertinent information and stuck a pin through them. I will put it on the bottom side of their shirts so not everyone can see the names but they will have it on them in case they get lost. I put names, cell phone number, and that we're staying at POP.

Only 7 more days for me!!! :Pinkbounc

UPDATE: I made my kids bracelets today. Went to Wal-mart, got the little baggies with various style beads, a bag of numerical beads and a 4 yard length of elastic "string".

I picked out a baggie of sports ball bead for my DS4, and we alternated a ball between each set of numbers (using our cell phone number)... for example:

basketball 555 soccerball 555 football 1212 baseball

I tied it in 2 tight knots, cut the ends, and it fits his wrist or ankle perfectly. Just the right amount of stretch!

My DD2 has a few metallic/sparkly beads in between each set of numbers. Very cute. Now we just have to practice, practice, practice what to do if they get lost.

DON'T Panic (yeah, right!)
IDENTIFY employee
GO to employee
TELL them you're lost and ask them to call your mommy... Look! Here's her phone number!

Let's pray we'll never have to find out if this system works!! All with me on this?!

Great idea! Better safe than sorry. I don't know about you, but one glance in the other direction and my toddler takes off. So far, we haven't lost sight, (cross the fingers) but I like this idea...thanks!

We just got back on Sunday. I had made name tags for all my boys. It was those plastic convention nametags with the metal pin on them. I bought them at Office Max. I took the card out and on the front I put a Mickey sticker and in big letters their names. In smaller letters on the front it says, "If I get lost at Disney World look here." The back of the card had my cell phone number, my husbands cell phone number and our names and resort. So the contact info wasn't broadcast out there for all to see, But their names were really visible, so they got lots of attention from Cast Members. My 2 year old didn't want to wear his so we had to pin it to his back so he'd forget it was there. I put a piece of tape on the sides of the nametag so the card wouldn't fall out and it lasted the whole vacation! No need to use it thankfully!

:rotfl: That's exactly why I chose to do the bracelets, letting the kids help me. I know my kiddos too well, especially the 2 year old. I'm already betting that by day 2 or 3, the bracelets won't be fun anymore either... that's when they might be put on their ankle and hopefully forgotten about for the day!

I just bought two bracelets from

simaenterprises dot com

They are nice because they don't advertise the childs name. I can put these on both my 1 year old and 4 year old without worry that they will be broken or lost.
