Making Christmas Memorable

We don't do this at Christmas necessarily but the kids love watching old home movies of themselves when they were little. They would probably enjoy ones of mom and dad as kids as well.

Our family for years played a game together at every get together.

Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for free photo album/gift deals etc. There are always a lot this time of year. Last year I did a free photo album for each kid with their sports pictures from that year.

Here are some of our traditions:

1. Make Bubble Bread for Christmas morning,
2. Always put out cookies and milk for Santa.
3. Most years we "feed the reindeers"
4. Hubby reads the "Night before CHristmas with the kids all gather round his chair. (18, 15, 5)
5. Make cookies/candy
6. Get a new ornament every year that depicts something the kids were into or something that happened in their life.

Thats all I can think of right now.

Thinking back to my childhood many years ago, I don't really remember any of the presents. My fondest memories are of my mother reading Christmas stories to me, visiting relatives to drop off a homemade baked gift, making cookies... One year we went caroling to elderly shut-ins and yes we did serve at a soup kitchen one year, although I don't know if that was at Christmas time or not.

Perhaps I need to look into these activities with my own children now more over the commercial present aspect...

Every year we make christmas crackers. Directions can be found online and making them are the best part. Last year we made the crowns out of tissue paper and used food coloring to decorate them. We found corny jokes online and wrote them out on small slips of paper then made homemade individual caramels to add to the tubes (left over tubes from toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls), then decorated the outside in leftover wrapping paper. They are really inexpensive to make and the memories are fantastic plus you get to wear your crown all though christmas dinner. Happy Memories!!!
