How far in advance can I make chocolate covered pretzel rods? How should I store them. I do not have air conditioning in the hot/humid weather-if thats makes a difference. I was hoping I could make them 1 week in advance.

I plan on having chocolate covered pretzel rods/candy apples on the candy buffet table for my sons graduation party.

My son went to a Harry Potter Sleepover at school several years ago and the chocolate covered pretzel rods was one of the activities they did at the party. It might be too juvenile, but if you could have the ingredients there, it might be fun for them to do for themselves. You could have different things, like colored sprinkles available that they could cover for themselves.

You should be ok at a week- make sure your pretzels are really fresh to start with. I think the only draw back is that your chocalate might start getting a 'mottled' look to it- you know when it start turning lighter colors or has white patches.

I just ate one we made two weeks ago... tasted OK- not the freshest, but not bad... chocolate wasn't the best looking (but my Mickey sprinkles covered most of it any way:thumbsup2 )

They should be kept cool not necessary to be cold though. And 1-2 weeks is fine IF you place them in a sealed container OR better yet individual bags (they have them and you can get them at craft or chocolate stores. You can dip the one end in chocolate and then use the color sprinkles that reflect his school colors, what a cute idea!
Congrats on the graduation!!

When I do my craft fair I make them a week ahead. However that's in November. I just keep them stored in like rubbermaid or tupperware. Also, I put wax paper or parchment paper in between each layer. During the summer months I would store them in the refrig.

I've made them a week in advance and refrigerated them. They were just fine. I make them at halloween. Dip them in white chocolate and use two mini-chocolate chips for the eyes. They're so cute and a big hit.
