Making Changes Within 30 Days

Our family has an upcoming trip to VB, followed by a stay at the BWV. The VB stay is over the weekend, so the points are high. Thanks to a tip from MouseSavers.com, I just learned about current discounted room rates at VB.

I'd like to cancel the DVC reservation, and book the cash ressie at VB. Since we're within the 30 day window, I know the "holding account" rule applies.

Can I take the points I would've used on VB and apply them to our BWV stay? Will MS reallocate my points in this manner?

You can only do this if there is still availability at BWV. It would be similar to canceling the reservation and making it again. All people on waitlists would have priority over you. Also, you didn't say when the stay at BWV is, but it must be within the 60 day window.

I think you still would have a holding account situation unless you extend your BWV stay to use those holding account points or unless your BWV arrival date is over 30 days from now. If your BWV is over 30 days from now, you probably could switch if there is availability.

As you've posted, if you cancel the VB ressie 30 days or less from arrival, the points used for that ressie will go into the holding account.

Eva is correct. The holding account points cannot be used for your BWV ressie unless there is still availability for your BWV dates and your arrival is 60 days or less from the day the change is made. It doesn't matter which resort the points were originally from. In other words, the fact that these are BWV points and the ressie you want is at BWV gives you no advantage.
