making changes to a rented reservation

We are renting a reservation.

Once we receive the confirmation from the DVC member, can we make changes to rooms, dates and Villas (assuming no additional points are required) directly through Disney or does the member have to do it for us?

The member will have to make any changes for you as any requests and changes will have to be made through DVC Member Services and the changes will be sent on a new confirmation to the member.

As Doc says, any and all changes have to go through the member. Changes to dates and cancellations are not as easily done as with a regular hotel reservation. Even though you are paying a stranger for the use of DVC, you should think of yourself as a "guest" of that person rather than someone who is directly dealing with DVC/Disney.
