Making an early breakfast from the resort (character buses)?

The dining rep said we would not need a cab for an 8:10 a.m. ADR at MK and we are staying at POR. He said the Character Bus would get us there on time.

Any experience with this? I don't want to miss breakfast! How will I know where to catch the "Character Breakfast bus?"

They really are not character buses per se, they are just regular buses that go to the parks for the Character breakfasts. You pick up the bus at the regular bus stop at your resort
The run pretty regularly, not as often as the buses do when the parks are open, so give yourself a little extra travel time to be on the safe side.

On a serious note, just be out at the bus stop 45 minutes prior to your seating time. Board the MK bus and let the driver know which breakfast you are going to.

We were at POFQ last week. We had no problems making our 8:10 adr at CP.

We got on the bus headed for MK. I think we were at the bus stop about 7:20----we had just missed the MK bus but another came by. The driver dropped off families at the contemporary before MK for chef mickey's.
