Hi,

Is this wrong or is it doable?.

I'm checking adrs at akershaus and there are a lot of options / times for two people but none available for 1

Can I book for 2 and change it to 1 at a later date?

thanks

You'll be fine booking for 2 and when you arrive at the restaurant let the CMs at the podium know you are a solo diner. As long as you show up for your reservation you will not be charged for the "missing" second person. You don't need to call in advance to modify the res since there are no tables for 1 and you'll automatically be seated at a 2 top. The only time I would call to modify a res would be for any pre-paid reservation (e.g. dinner shows, Wishes Dessert Party).

The Disney dining reservation system has a known glitch that makes it hard for odd numbered parties (1, 3, 5 etc) to book. The system wants to fill all the seats at a table so if you input 1 person it passes over tables for 2. However, if you input a party of 2 you will often find plenty of availability as you found for Akershus. Go ahead and book the table. As a party of 3 we often have better luck when searching for "4."

Thank you for this !

It seemed crazy there were so many tables for 2 and non available for 1!

I have reserved a table for 2 . :thumbsup2

I will second the above poster. I traveled solo for a week, a little over a month ago. When I did my ADRs 6 months prior to check-in, there was a slim chance that a friend might be able to join me for the trip, so I booked all my reservations for a Party of 2, just to be safe. Turns out that, as expected, my friend was unable to come, and it became a solo trip. Out of my six ADRs, not one single time did I have any issues. When I checked-in, I simply let the host/hostess know that my party of 2 was now a party of 1, and that was that. You won't have any problems at all if you show up solo. :thumbsup2
