Making ADR's while at WDW???

Last trip we had about 6 or so ADR's, it was my daughters birthday so I made several and we enjoyed them all. This trip I've only made two so we don't have be on such a schedule. However, my concern is there are a few places I'd like to convince the family to eat at, but if I wait will I still be able to get a reservation...............like the Crystal Palace?

Terbear, why don't you go ahead and make some more ADRs just in case? Other than Cindy's (and I think Norway Princesses) it won't cost you if you don't show up. This will give you some options in case you have a hard time getting in somewhere last minute. Just make sure to cancel any ADRs you aren't using as soon as you know to give someone else a chance to get in.

I've made ADR for half our trip in Sept. and am still deciding about remaining 5 days. (I just changed ressies from 5 to 10 days!) I like to have a few ADRs outside of parks so if we don't go to a particular park on a certain day we still have a TS set up. We like Kona and Park Faire alot. I've never eaten at CP since my DD6 isn't a big fan of Pooh and friends and I don't know how booked they get.

I say make some ADR, even if you don't tell DH about them. Imagine how happy he'll be if it looks like you can't get in somewhere and lo and behold, you smart wife you, you booked it already .

I would make at least a few ADRs. You can cancel most of them without any penalty if something else comes along.

You should definitely make your ADR for any sort of character breakfast.

Our plans changed here and there when we went in February. I made a same day ADR at Mama Melrose and it was at a great time. Of course, we ended up not being happy w/ our food but oh well!

On our next to last nite, I called to see if they had any openings the next day for lunch at LeCellier. They had one at 2:50 which was the last seating for the lunch menu. If you can be pretty flexible with your times, it should work out to your advantage. It's when you have a strict time that you won't get them. For us we NEVER eat lunch that late, we're usually EARLY lunch eaters. But we had some extra CS meals and just walked around World Showcase that whole morning and early afternoon and split a few meals here and there. We weren't incredibly hungry by the time we got to LeCellier but by Golly we MADE room!

Great ideas - especially the one where I can surprise my husband with an ADR at a resturant where reservations are full

I am the only one that wants to do Chef Mickey's again for breakfast, but I guess I can miss it this time. Can you believe my son said there were way too many food choices, yet it was a fun place to eat.

...spontanaiety can be its own reward. Last July, we had ressies at Narcoossee's for 5 pm. (We were traveling with my in-laws at the time.) We got there early, around 4:30, and my wife wasn't that thrilled with the menu, so we wandered over to 1900 Park Fare. My wife asked if they had anything available, for four people, right away. They said they might, and we should check back at 5. We soaked up the atmosphere in the GF lobby for a bit, and my wife checked back and, voila, we got a great table and great service and GREAT food, pronto.

You never know ... especially if you decide to dine very early. The room was deserted for the first half hour or so!

HOWEVER, while at WDW last year, my family and I realised we had not made an ADR for a birthday meal, so we walked up to the LTT in MK, the day before but they had nothing for the next day and then on they way out of the park, we decided to check with the Crystal Palace and they had space for dinner the next day They did say we were very lucky to get it (It was Easter time) It was a great meal, the characters were great when they saw we had a birthday in the family, and we had a table by the window overlooking the castle

Sounds like I should do a little of both............I'll make a few more ADR's and then just play it by ear when we are there. I'm wanting to try some new resturants, we tend to go back to the same one's over and over.
